Founded in 1883, Chehalis has seen quite a few chapters unfold, and you can discover some of them on the Chehalis Historic Walking Tour.

Wander through downtown, admire the historic architecture, and uncover stories of pioneers, railroads, fires, floods, entrepreneurs, and the determined folks who helped Chehalis become the community it is today.

Lace up your walking shoes and take a little stroll through history. You might be surprised by what’s been hiding in plain sight!

You’ve probably seen some of these improvements around Chehalis. Did you know the Transportation Benefit District helped make them possible?

Since voters approved the TBD in 2017, local funding has supported street, sidewalk, accessibility and safety improvements throughout the city, including:

🚧 Chehalis Avenue: Reconstructed roadway, new and improved sidewalks, drainage and utility upgrades, and pedestrian and traffic safety improvements.

🚧 NW Pacific Avenue: Roadway reconstruction along with improvements to sidewalks, curbs, stormwater infrastructure and street lighting.

🚧 SW 13th Street: New and improved sidewalks, ADA curb ramps and safer pedestrian crossings connecting neighborhoods and community destinations.

🚧 Pedestrian safety throughout Chehalis: Crosswalks, flashing pedestrian beacons, pavement striping, intersection improvements and other safety and accessibility upgrades.
