Sometimes understanding the Bible starts with asking simple questions.

Who?
What?
When?
Where?
Why?
How?

These questions may seem basic, but they help uncover the details, context, and themes woven throughout a passage.

In this clip, we’re walking through John 1:19–28 and showing how the “5 W’s and an H” can help you observe Scripture more carefully and understand it more accurately.

Because the more attention we give to the text, the more we begin to see what God is communicating through it.

The Good Shepherd doesn’t lead selfishly.
He lays His life down for the sheep.

And the longer we walk with Jesus… the more we begin to look like Him.

That means following Jesus isn’t just about receiving His care—it’s about learning to love others with the same selfless, sacrificial posture He has toward us.

To serve without needing recognition.
To give without making it about ourselves.
To feed others instead of feeding our own ego.

Because real shepherding always costs something.

In episode 3 of the Know God Deeply podcast, we’re exploring what Jesus reveals about Himself as the Good Shepherd—and how His example reshapes the way we love and serve others.

One of the hardest parts of Bible study?
Letting Scripture speak for itself.

We all come to the Bible with assumptions, experiences, and expectations. But studying God’s Word in context means slowing down enough to ask:

What is the author actually emphasizing?
What is God communicating through this passage?

Not just:
“What do I want this verse to say?”

In this clip, we’re talking about why studying Scripture objectively matters—and how approaching the text with humility helps us hear God’s Word more clearly.

Because when we truly understand what Scripture says and means, we discover truth that transforms our lives.

Not every voice that sounds spiritual speaks the truth.

Jesus says He is the Door.
And that means real truth will always lead back to Him—not away from Him.

Throughout Scripture, we’re warned about voices that try to climb “another way.” Voices that distort who Jesus is, what He has done, and what He has promised.

But the more deeply we know Christ through His Word, the more clearly we can discern what is true.

Because truth is never contrary to Jesus.
It always aligns with His character, His authority, and His gospel.

In episode 3 of the Know God Deeply podcast, we’re talking about what it means for Jesus to be the Door—and how that shapes the way we recognize truth from deception.

This is different. Unnatural. SUPERnatural.

Our natural tendency is to lash out when we’re wronged. Paul says to bless.

Our natural tendency is to withdraw from people who are grieving. Paul says to weep with those weep.

Our natural tendency is to associate with people who we think will “benefit” us. Paul says to associate with the lowly.

Our natural tendency is to exalt ourselves. Paul says to never be wise in our own sight.

By the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives, we are others-focused rather than self-focused. We are different from the world…

Are we living like it?

Sometimes deeper Bible study starts with noticing the obvious.

Who’s speaking?
Who are they speaking to?
What words keep repeating?
What events are happening?

It may sound simple, but these details help build the context of a passage and keep us grounded in what the text is actually saying.

In this clip, we’re walking through John 1 and showing how observing people, places, repeated phrases, and key details can completely change the way you understand Scripture.

Studying the Bible deeply doesn’t start with complicated answers—it starts with careful observation.

We all want direction.
We all want care.
We all want a life that feels full.

And yet, left on our own… we wander.

Jesus meets us there—not as a distant authority, but as a present Shepherd.

In episode 3 of the Know God Deeply podcast, we’re diving into John 10 to see what it means that Jesus is both the Door and the Good Shepherd—the One who leads, protects, and gives abundant life.

Because abundance isn’t found in striving… it’s found in following Him.

There is still darkness in this world.
We feel it. We see it. We grieve it.

And yet, throughout John’s Gospel, we’re reminded of this truth again and again: God is still in control.

Jesus was never operating outside the Father’s timing.
Not for a moment.

And the same God who sent Light into a world dwelling in deep darkness is still at work today.

So if things are not yet as they should be… if there are still places that ache, still wounds that remain, still darkness that lingers… then take heart:

God is not done shining His light.

In episode 2 of the "Know God Deeply" podcast, we’re exploring Jesus as the Light of the World—and the hope we have because darkness never gets the final word.

Before observation.
Before interpretation.
Before application.

Pray.

One of the most important parts of Bible study isn’t a method—it’s dependence on God.
We can use every study tool available, but without the Holy Spirit opening our eyes to truth, we miss what God wants us to see.

That’s why Scripture should always be approached prayerfully, with humility and dependence on Him.

“Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.” — Psalm 119:18

In this clip, we’re talking about why prayer is essential to studying the Bible in context.
