Our new long-term case management program, Rooted Together, is officially underway! This first cohort includes ten single mothers who are committed to creating brighter futures for themselves and their children.

Research shows that sustained case management can improve long-term outcomes for families by increasing stability, strengthening access to resources, and supporting progress toward financial goals. Through one-on-one support, goal setting, and educational workshops focused on financial stability, career readiness, and community resources, participants are building the tools and confidence needed for lasting change.

Because when families have the support they need to thrive, the impact can last for generations. Stay tuned as we support these mothers for the next 5 months.

Our Community School Coordinators have officially wrapped up an incredible school year! These dedicated individuals are embedded in our schools, building deep roots within the community, and connecting families with the vital community resources students need to thrive.

To celebrate the end of the year, our coordinators spent their last day volunteering together with one of our amazing partners, White Oak Bicycle Co-op Together, our team rolled up their sleeves and built 31 bikes that will go directly to kids!

White Oak is doing incredible work in our community promoting physical activity, safety, healthy neighborhoods, and transportation. They partner with our schools to provide both bikes and education to students.

This hands-on day gave our coordinators a deeper look at the impact White Oak makes, while giving our team a chance to connect, bond, and strengthen our own relationships.

Our coordinators will be taking a brief summer break, but they’ll be back in action this July to gear up for another amazing year.

Wishing all of our students, families, and school staff a safe, happy, and wonderful summer!

A few years ago, our CEO Jessica gave a local TEDx talk about the power of mentorship and the importance of showing up for others at every stage of life. Recently, that message reached all the way to Long Island when the Assistant Dean of the College of Engineering at Hofstra University invited her to serve as keynote speaker for their celebration of ten years of their co-op and mentorship program.

Jessica had the opportunity to speak with students, faculty, alumni, sponsors, and employers about what makes mentoring relationships meaningful and impactful.

At Northside Neighborhood House, mentorship is woven into the work we do every day. Whether it’s coordinators supporting students, case managers walking alongside neighbors, or teammates encouraging one another, we believe strong relationships help create lasting change.

We’re proud to see Jessica sharing that message beyond our community and inspiring others to invest in mentorship where they are.

Summer break is almost here, and for many families, that means household essentials run out much faster. You can help us prepare our neighbors in need for the months ahead by donating much-needed cleaning and hygiene products!

Items we’re collecting:
🧺 Laundry detergent
🧴 Shampoo & conditioner
🛁 Body wash
✨ Deodorant (men’s and women’s)
🧼 Dish soap

Every donation helps families stretch their budgets and care for their households with dignity this summer. Donations can be dropped off at our main office at 211 Minor St. Thank you for supporting our neighbors in practical, meaningful ways!

We’re excited to recognize Jason Parker as this month’s Kudos Winner in our Volunteer Spotlight!

Jason serves as the Executive Director of Improv Chattanooga and has been partnering with our afterschool programs, primarily in the Soddy Daisy area, for years. Through improv-based activities, he brings creativity, connection, and energy to students who look forward to his visits each time.

Our Community School coordinator Madison shared, “Jason is the absolute best! He meets my afterschool kids exactly where they are and my kids thoroughly enjoy his visits! Every school needs a partner like Jason and we are so lucky to have him!”

We are so grateful for Jason’s continued partnership and the joy he brings to students across our programs.
