Today was all smiles at Orange Grove Center! 💛

We celebrated World Smile Day in the cafeteria in honor of Jordan LaGraff, a young man supported throughout his life by Orange Grove Center whose smile spoke volumes. Our staff and people we support did exactly what Smile Day asks of us: sharing kindness and helping one another smile. It was a joyful way to honor someone whose legacy still brightens our halls.

World Smile Day is celebrated around the globe on the first Friday in October, and was started in 1999 by Harvey Ball, the artist who designed the yellow smiley face we all know and love in 1963. Since Orange Grove was founded in 1953, that makes us a decade older than the smiley face!

Thank you, Jordan & the LaGraff family, for the smiles you gave us, and for the ones you are still inspiring.

This week for September to Remember, we had a special feathered friend visit our Nature Garden! The kind folks at Happinest Raptor Rescue joined us yesterday to release a hawk back into nature, and it was a treat to see such a beautiful bird up close!

What a way to close out DSP Recognition Week. 🤠

Our Direct Support Professionals showed up for Country vs. Country Club Day in full force, cowboy hats and country club best alike, and it was the perfect send-off for a week spent celebrating them. Our staff and DSPs are the reason we can recognize, support, and celebrate the qualities of every individual with intellectual / developmental disabilities who we serve.

So whether you went full country or leaned country club, thank you to everyone who participated! This DSP Recognition Week was for you, and you made it one to remember.

That's a wrap on Bingo for the Grove, and wow did you show up! La Dolce Vita at the Hunter Museum was everything we hoped for and more.

THANK YOU to the guests who danced their hearts out, purchased raffle tickets, pulled w**e, or raised their paddles, the volunteers who made it all click, the sponsors who backed us every step of the way, and the Bingo committee who planned such a fun and beautiful event. Because of you, we get to keep doing what we do best: supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the heart of Orange Grove Center's mission.

Working 9 to 5 has never looked this good! 🎶 For Dolly Day, today's theme for our monthlong September to Remember celebration, some of our staff and the people we support showed up dressed like our dearly departed Dolly Parton.

This week is also DSP Appreciation week, and we've included some more photos of our direct support professional staff in the middle of their workday today to highlight all that they do for Orange Grove and the people we support.
