The Post 64 Legion Family was busy today welcoming families and the community to the Chandler Ice Cream Festival.

We were also busy folding non-serviceable flags in preparation for the flag retirement ceremony on Sunday, 14 June 2006 at 8:15 pm at Tilghman Park.

A big thank you to the Legionnaires, Sons & Auxiliary members who helped with today’s activities.

The Post 64 Legion Family was honored to attend the unveiling of a new historical informational board highlighting Chandler’s contribution as the “Home town” and training site of the Oklahoma Army National Guard.

The effort was the vision of local resident Howard Dickman who has spent hundreds of hours researching and documenting Chandlers historical contributions to the Oklahoma Military.

The sign is located just east of Tilghman Park, near the Historic Military observation house.

The Veterans of Chandler and the American Legion Post 64 & VFW 1719 would like to express our sincere appreciation for all those who came out today to assist us in remembering those who gave all for this country.

A special Thank You to those who helped place and retrieve the flags at Oak Park & Clearview cemetery today.

Honoring and remembering those who served in the past, supporting those who serve in the present will provide hope for our future.
