Cahaba Critters is a nonprofit organization where we are dedicated to create a welcoming and inclusive space where children can grow, learn, and thrive. We believe every child deserves to experience the joy and wonder of nature in a safe and nurturing environment where they can interact and learn about animals. Our goal is to make that possible by creating memories through our petting farm.

📢VOLUNTEERS NEEDED JUNE 27th! 4- 10pm.

We are always so thankful for our volunteers, like Jennifer, and her kids who are junior volunteers! They have been helping take care of the animals this week and they made a video to take you along!

On Saturday, June 27th we need extra volunteers to make our Red, White & Moo: America’s 250th Birthday Celebration & Movie Under the Stars special! You will be helping with animal encounters, supervising the bounce house and waterside, and working concessions!

In return, you’ll get a FREE t-shirt and individual fun on the farm! You can stay the entire time or take a shift. We are thankful for any extra hands!❤️🤍💙

On JUNE 27th we want to celebrate YOU (and America's birthday🇺🇸) with a movie night, bounce house, water slide, and unique animal interactions!! The perfect summer Saturday!☀️

Admission is by donation- pay what you can- so every family has the chance to enjoy a night at the farm! Every gift helps Cahaba Critters keep creating Critter Magic across rural central Alabama.

OUR WHY: Cahaba Critters was born after one of our co-founders received a life-saving double organ transplant. That second chance inspired a mission to create a place where children and families can experience hope, connection, and joy through hands-on experiences with animals and agriculture.🦙🐷

WHY THIS MATTERS: Did you know that as of 2024, there were approximately 6,000 children in the Alabama foster care system? Our farm helps fill a critical gap by creating a safe, joyful place where children in foster care can simply be kids. With community partners, we build positive memories through matching events and birthday celebrations.

For children with special needs, the need for understanding and accessible spaces is even greater. Our farm offers a calm, welcoming environment where they can move at their own pace and feel fully included!

‼️All money donated and events attended helps not only maintain the farm and care for the animals but provides FREE time here for those who need it most.

A local donkey has officially declared himself Grand Marshal of Red, White & Moo. 🇺🇸

Fred has inspected the grounds, reviewed the plans, and determined that everything is ready for a night of family fun at Cahaba Critters.

🍩 HAPPY NATIONAL DONUT DAY!

Meet one of the sweetest new additions to the Cahaba Critters family…

💛 Donut the Guinea Pig!💛

Donut may be small, but he’s already stealing hearts around the farm. Curious, friendly, and always on the lookout for snacks, he’s quickly become a favorite with the Critter crew.

While Donut didn’t get to eat the donut, he was more than happy to help us celebrate National Donut Day!

You’ll be able to meet Donut in person at our upcoming Red, White & Moo celebration on June 27!

🐐🐷 SUMMER FARM JOB — Perfect for a Local Student! 🐰🐴

Cahaba Critters is still looking for the right person to join our farm family this summer!

This is a great part-time job for a dependable local high school student, college student, or young adult who loves animals, enjoys being outdoors, and wants real hands-on experience caring for critters of all sizes.

This is not just a “job” — it’s a chance to be part of something meaningful, learn responsibility, help care for animals, and be involved with the Critter Magic our visitors love. 💜

❤️ What you’ll help with:
• Feeding animals
• Helping with daily farm chores
• Spending time around goats, pigs, bunnies, alpacas, emus, and larger animals
• Occasionally helping with visitors during farm events

💪 Who we’re looking for:
• Age 16+
• Dependable and self-motivated
• Comfortable around animals big and small
• Able to follow directions
• Not afraid of getting dirty
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must have transportation
• Character references required

☀️ Important: This is real farm work. It can be hot, sweaty, and dirty — but it can also be a lot of fun for the right person!

⏰ Schedule:
Flexible, usually around 8–10 hours per week. Some weeks may vary depending on farm needs and events.

💵 Pay:
$8–$10/hour depending on experience, work ethic, and how quickly you learn.

📍 Location:
Near Six Mile Grocery, about 10 miles outside Montevallo, Alabama.

⚠️ Applicants under 18 will need parent/guardian permission before employment.

Love animals? Don’t mind getting dirty? Want a fun summer job with purpose?

Cahaba Critters is looking for a dependable part-time farm helper to join our Critter family this summer — with the opportunity to continue during the school year!
Perfect for a local high school student (16+ years old) who loves animals and wants hands-on experience caring for them.
❤️ What You’ll Be Doing:
• Feeding animals
• Cleaning stalls and farm areas
• Helping interact with visitors and animals
• Assisting with daily farm care and chores
• Spending time with animals of ALL sizes
💪 What We’re Looking For:
• Self-motivated and dependable
• Able to follow directions
• Comfortable around animals big and small
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must have transportation / be able to drive
• Character References required
• Willing to work outside in the heat — this is REAL farm work and can be hot, sweaty, and dirty!

Each year, students at Creekview Elementary School choose an end of the year celebration/fieldtrip, and we are honored they chose us! Spending the day with these second graders was a great way to start our week!

A special thank you to our junior volunteer, Piper, for leading the alpacas toward more pets!
