Our upcoming Voices & Stories event, “Immigration Journeys & Community Integration,” will feature a panel of three local residents sharing their personal immigration journeys and unique experiences as we explore themes of starting over, building belonging, and ways our communities can become more welcoming and inclusive.

• RJ: a proud Filipino immigrant whose journey to the United States in 2006 has shaped both his life and leadership philosophy.
• Vida: came from Iran at age 15, became a U.S. citizen in 1980, and values the opportunity here that provided her with a voice to be heard.
• Cristina: originally from Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, moved to the U.S. with her family in 2014, carrying a suitcase full of hopes, dreams, and many questions about what the future would hold.

Generously hosted by our friends at ContempoRoast Coffee & Roastery, the event will include time for conversation and networking, as well as a short tour and presentation about coffee beans, the roasting process, and coffee-growing regions worldwide. Pride Month may be wrapping up, but pride is important to share and celebrate year-round. Many thanks to the panelists and guests who joined us for our recent Voices & Stories event, “Intersecting Lives and Experience of LGBTQ+ Community Members.” The event featured an engaging and insightful discussion of the unique challenges presented by the intersection of q***r identities with other aspects of identity such as race, ethnicity, religion, and citizenship.

As we continue to promote and celebrate diversity throughout 2026, we hope to see you at a future event. Next on the calendar: The Americana Festival in downtown Centerville on Saturday, July 4. If you’ll be at the festival, be sure to stop by our booth to say hello!

We’re excited to host a special Pride Month Voices & Stories event next week! “Intersecting Lives and Experience of LGBTQ+ Community Members” will feature a moderated panel discussion with local LGBTQ+ individuals sharing some the unique challenges presented by the intersection of their q***r identities with other aspects of who they are. From race and ethnicity to religion and citizenship, balancing intersectionality can be challenging, but it also creates opportunities for engagement and support across multiple communities. Please join us to explore what it means to accept and understand ALL of someone, and how acceptance often begins at the intersection of who they are.

I’m very excited to announce 📣 an upcoming event for us. To anyone that has ever wanted a have a gay day tee or sweatshirt or hoodie this event will be for you. May 30th from 1pm-4pm bring a shirt from home and we will heat press our design for you. Cost? Whatever you want. If you don’t have anything to donate or if you do, you still get to leave with a Have A Gay Day design. How many of these do we have? A LOT! ALSO!! We will have some logos with Black and White Text! ALSO!! We will have mini logos about 2 inches in size!! There will be some rules and some things we can’t press but an amazing event that helps us but also gets you some merch from us at a really great price. The price you set.
