Middle Country Youth Civic Association

Middle Country Youth Civic Association Local students 6-12th grade coming together for the good of the community. The Middle Country Youth Civic Association is made up of Middle and High Schoolers.

The intention is to serve the community at large and the group gets to decide what projects they believe would benefit the community and how to implement their ideas. Ideas like planning what would make our neighborhood better, parks, types of businesses we would like to see here, community events like street fair, movie night in the park and an art mural contest for the high school. They will le

arn leadership, planning and how local government works. They are guided and assisted by the Centereach and Selden Civic Executive Board but are encouraged to act as their own group. The Youth Civic is, of course, always accompanied by some form of adult supervision. Please consider joining the Middle Country Youth Civic. 🇺🇸 PLEASE JOIN US AS WE REMEMBER 🇺🇸

The Centereach Fire Department invites the community and their families to a Memorial Ceremony marking the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001.

🕯️ Friday, September 11th at 7:00 PM
📍 9 South Washington Avenue, Centereach, NY

The evening will include:
🕯️ A Candle Lighting Ceremony
🎶 Music performed by the Centereach High School Choir
☕ Refreshments served afterwards

On this solemn anniversary, we will come together as a community to honor those we lost, remember the heroes who answered the call, and ensure that the memories of September 11th are never forgotten.

❤️ All members of the community and their families are welcome to attend.

It’s that exciting time of year again! We love seeing all the first-day-of-school pictures, proud smiles, new backpacks, and special moments shared on social media. ❤️

But before you hit POST, take a moment to think about how much information that picture or caption may reveal.

Something that seems completely innocent could provide strangers with details about your child’s:

📍 School or location
🚌 Bus number, stop, or schedule
👩‍🏫 Teacher’s name
⏰ Daily routine or activities
🏫 After-school programs
✈️ Vacation plans
🏠 Whether your family is home or away

Remember: Once something is posted online, you may not have control over where it goes or who sees it.

✅ Check your privacy settings
✅ Limit who can see your posts
✅ Avoid posting specific schedules or locations
✅ Consider waiting until after an event to share photos
✅ Think about what information is visible in the background of your pictures

We can still celebrate our kids, their accomplishments, and those special back-to-school moments while protecting their privacy and safety.

Did you know that Middle Country Public Library is offering FREE lunches for children 18 years old and younger this summer?

📅 Monday through Friday
🕦 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
🗓️ July 1 – August 28

✅ Open to all children ages 18 and younger
✅ No enrollment required
✅ Out-of-district families are welcome!

This wonderful program, provided by L.I. Cares, helps ensure children have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer months.
