The Cedar Key Arts Center (CKAC) plays an important role in bringing art, creativity, and meaningful experiences to young people in our community through programs such as the Patty Jett Summer Art Program. During the first week, our young artists explored the fascinating worlds of Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, and Salvador Dalí, creating their own colorful and imaginative projects inspired by these legendary artists. The week was filled with creativity, learning, and plenty of fun! None of this would be possible without our hardworking teen helpers and dedicated adult volunteers, who enthusiastically assist, encourage, and inspire the children throughout each project. Programs like Patty Jett demonstrate the importance of CKAC’s commitment to arts education and to creating opportunities where children, teens, and adults can come together, learn from one another, and celebrate the joy of making art happen.

🎨 Patty Jett Summer Art Program – Open Enrollment

Explore creativity through the styles of three legendary artists!

📅 Dates: July 20–31 The students will have a gallery showing on Friday, July 31 for friends and family. Open to the public.

🎭 Theme: Inspired by
Salvador Dalí,
Vincent van Gogh, and
Pablo Picasso

Students will experiment with surrealism, expressive color, and cubist forms while creating original artwork influenced by these masters.

🧒 Grade 1–5: 9:00–11:00 AM
🧑‍🎓 Grade 6–12: 1:00–3:00 PM or 4:00

Hands-on projects, guided instruction, and creative exploration designed for all skill levels.

Old Florida Celebration of the Arts Returns to Cedar Key, April 11 & 12.

The Spring Arts Festival in Cedar Key may be celebrating its 62nd Anniversary this year, but just because it’s been around for more years than most every other festival in Florida doesn’t mean it’s “just another arts and crafts show.” Recognized 5 times in the past 10 years as one of the top Small-Town Art Shows in America by ArtFairCalendar.com and voted in the Top 200 in 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 by artists participating in Sunshine Artists Annual Survey based on sales, the Old Florida Celebration of the Arts is clearly something special.

When asked what makes this event so exceptional, visitors and artists often express appreciation for the festival’s smaller size, the high quality and unique artwork, and the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Cedar Key. Only 100 fine artists, representing a full range of disciplines, are invited to attend. Most artists are from Florida, but each year the event attracts a variety of artists from around North America. To encourage engagement of artists and art enthusiasts, the layout is purposely spread out with room for artist demonstrations both afternoons.

What you will still find in Cedar Key is its Old Florida charm. Booths are located right downtown on historic 2nd Street. Visitors can enjoy seafood and homemade goodies prepared by local non-profit groups to benefit their organizations in beachfront City Park along with music and children’s activities organized by Cedar Key Lions Club.

The festival is open Saturday, April 11, 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday, April 12, 10 am to 4 pm. Parking can be a challenge, so plan to carpool, if you can. For more information, go to www.CedarKeyArtsFestival.com.
