The Friends of Castaic Lake is a nonprofit organization formed in 1983 for the betterment of the Castaic Lake Recreation Area.

Castaic Lake is open, and recreational boating IS permitted!

We’ve seen posts saying all boating has been banned and want to help clear up the confusion. The LA County Parks & Recreation notice shared here states that recreational boating can continue on the Upper Lake, with precautions for harmful algae.

Please avoid water contact, stay away from algae and scum, keep children away from affected areas, and keep pets out of the water. Follow all posted advisories and directions from lake staff.

The Lower Lake/Lagoon currently has no algae advisory. That’s where Winter Magic takes place, and we’re continuing preparations for December 5!

Thank you for helping keep our community informed. Please check current lake advisories before visiting, as conditions can change.

⚠️Upper Castaic Lake Warning ⚠️

Recreational boating 🚤 can continue in the Upper Castaic Lake, but harmful algae may be present.

Follow posted warning signs:
🚫 Do not touch algae or scum in water
🚫 For fish caught here, throw away guts and clean
fillets with tap water or bottled water before
cooking
🚫 Do not allow pets & animals drink the water or eat
scum & algae
🚫 Do not drink this water or use for cooking
🚫 Do not eat shellfish from this water

Call your doctor or veterinarian if you or your pet get sick after contact with water.

Some of the best holiday memories are made right here in our community, and we’re inviting local businesses and community partners to help us create more of them!

On Saturday, December 5, 2026, Friends of Castaic Lake will host Winter Magic, a free community holiday celebration bringing families together for an afternoon and evening of holiday fun at Castaic Lake!

From the excitement of playing in the snow and visiting Santa to enjoying holiday activities and watching the Lighted Boat Parade, Winter Magic is all about creating special moments that kids and families will remember for years to come.

❤️ But we can’t do it without the support of our community!

We are currently seeking monetary sponsors to help cover the costs of bringing these experiences to local families.

Sponsorship opportunities range from $250 to $5,000, with various levels of business recognition and promotional opportunities.

We’re getting ready for Winter Magic at Castaic Lake on Saturday, December 5th, and we’re looking for local businesses who want to be part of this special community celebration!

Winter Magic is a FREE, family-friendly holiday event featuring snow, Santa, holiday activities, a holiday marketplace, and our Lighted Boat Parade. We’re expecting hundreds of families to join us!

We’re looking for 2027 Float Tube Bass Derby sponsors!

After a great 2026 season with 30 anglers, 127 fish and more than 236 lbs. of fish caught, we’re getting ready to do it again in 2027!

Friends of Castaic Lake is looking for local businesses and community partners to help support our 3-event Float Tube Bass Derby Series at Castaic Lake Lagoon.

We have several ways to get involved, including Presenting, Awards and Lunch Sponsorships, plus opportunities to donate products, prizes, gift cards, fishing gear and more.

If you’re new here, welcome! Friends of Castaic Lake is a volunteer nonprofit made up of people who love this lake and want to see it thrive. From cleanups and fishing events to family programs and special events, everything we do is about bringing our community together while supporting Castaic Lake. We have a lot happening this fall and we’re glad you’re here!

15 years ago, Kaya was the little girl playing in the snow at Winter Magic.

Today, she’s a high school student, a former Castaic Lake Junior Lifeguard, and the young entrepreneur behind Kaya’s Creamery. And this December, she’s coming back to Winter Magic, this time as a vendor!

Kaya started Kaya’s Creamery right here in our community, creating small-batch homemade ice cream while also finding ways to give back. Her business is built around a belief that says it all: “No Child Should Go Without Ice Cream.”

With college just around the corner, it’s pretty special to see how Kaya’s connection to Castaic Lake has come full circle. She went from a little girl playing in the snow at Winter Magic, to becoming a Castaic Lake Junior Lifeguard, to now returning as a high school entrepreneur with a business of her own.

This is what community is all about.
