Did you hear about the Grand street tree project?

This project is to insure there is living healthy beautiful suger maple trees along the Carthage maple leaf parade route for years to come.

The Carthage Tree Board planted 8-2” caliber  sugar maple trees along Grand and Centennial street in Carthage.

The Carthage tree board hopes to keep  expanding this projects in the next few years to planting more trees throughout the town.

The City of Carthage has received a Community Forestry Cost-share award from the Missouri Department of Conservation.

The program supports communities in promoting the benefits of and enhancing their urban forests. Through the cost-share funding, the city will remove thirteen ash trees on the golf course that are expected to become hazardous as a result of infestation by the non-native Emerald Ash Borer.
The project also includes the planting of 26 new trees on the golf course, contributing to the long-term health and diversity of the area’s tree canopy. For more information, contact: Carthage Parks and Recreation at (417) 237-7035 or [email protected].

The Carthage tree board took their November meeting in municipal park and advantage of the great weather to plant some Missouri native trees around the route 66 playground.
