Georgia LAST The Georgia Fallen Firefighters Foundation was born out of the Georgia Local Assistance State Team (L.A.S.T.). While many states have traditional L.A.S.T.

teams, Georgia's team had expanded beyond the traditional teams service capabilities in the provision of services to departments and families who have suffered a LODD. Officially beginning business December 1, 2011 the foundation was formed by three of the Georgia L.A.S.T. original founding members; Dennis Thayer, Ronnie Payne and David Bradley.

Juan Antonia Smith II
February 5, 2024 - June 12, 2026

It is with profound sadness that Rockdale County Fire Rescue announces the line-of-duty death of Firefighter Juan Antonia Smith II, who passed away on June 12, 2026.

Today, we honor a brave firefighter who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. His courage, dedication, and selflessness exemplified the highest ideals of the fire service and will never be forgotten.

Though his watch has ended, his legacy will endure in the lives he touched, the community he served, and the brothers and sisters who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Rest easy, Firefighter Smith. We have the watch from here. ❤️
