We are diving into a new study in the book of Hebrews. Now we don’t actually know the author of this book, many believe it was Paul, but the writing style is a little different than his other writings. Some think it could Barnabas and there are other possible authors, but this book focusses on the deity of Jesus, and how He is above every created being. He is our High Priest and is sitting at the right hand of the Father interceding and overseeing the New Covenant of which He alone established. In our study this morning, we will look at how the role of a prophet has changed.

We will see how God does not overlook the sin of the rich oppressors in the world and justice will come in His timing. We will also look at how we as believers are to persevere, and walk in faith.

In this study we will look at the fact that as believers, it is not my will but His will that we should be seeking to follow.

We will be looking at our actions or works. Are they done through wisdom that comes with humility and meekness, or are they from our fleshly nature which is full of bitterness and pride?

We are going to look at one of the smallest parts of our being, but in some ways the most dangerous. The untamed tongue.

We will be looking at faith and works which flow out from a merciful heart. So I begin this message with a question. Is it faith vs. works or faith with works? I believe we can answer this question as we go through this study.

We will look at how we are to look at and receive those in the body of Christ. We will also look at mercy and being merciful.

We will look at being active believers, doing not hearing only. And finally we will see how relationship drives works, not the other way around.

Hello and welcome to our page. My name is Grady Clark and I’m the pastor here at Calvary Chapel River Oaks in Cartersville, GA. We are a non denominational church and our focus is on God’s word. We teach verse by verse and chapter by chapter as we study through the bible every Sunday and on the 2nd and 4thWednesday each month. To learn more about who we are and what we believe, you can find our statement of faith on the about us page on our website ccriveroaks.org. We believe that God is beginning a fresh work here in Cartersville GA. Our heart is to listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading as we grow through studying His Word, and seeking His guidance. Many today want to be entertained or get some kind of emotional experience when attending a church. That’s not who we are. We believe that the church which is all believers in Jesus Christ, are called to grow in our faith. That’s why we teach from the full council of God’s Word, from both Old Testament and New Testament. We are not about religion, but relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, and then to love your neighbor as yourself.
