Her name is… Rachel.
When Rachel became the first patient admitted to the Jesus Loves Me Children’s Center’s inpatient ward, she was convulsing from severe malaria, the same disease that took Theresa’s life in 2019 and inspired us to build this center.
But this time, lifesaving care was within reach. Our team acted quickly, stabilizing Rachel within a day, and by the end of the week, she was well enough to go home.
For us, Rachel’s story was more than a first patient or a life saved. It was a beautiful reminder of His radical mercy to stay the course, and a glimpse of the hope that would fill these walls for years to come, the true life-saving difference this center is making.

Her name is…Theresa

We met Theresa in 2019, at a small bush clinic tucked deep in rural Liberia. By the time the long journey to a local hospital was complete, it was too late. The malaria had spread to her brain and her body simply could no longer fight.
Seven years have passed, but we’ve never forgotten Theresa.

Her story still moves us. It reminds us why we do this work: why we build, why we hope, and why we refuse to give up. Today, that spark lives on in the Jesus Loves Me Children’s Center, a place where every bed is built for healing, for hope, and for second chances.

Nearly every minute, a child under 5, like Theresa, dies of malaria.

Last year was a night we won’t soon forget, and on October 22, we’ll gather again for the LOVE. Big Gala to celebrate what God has done and share the names and stories behind another incredible year of impact.

There is a lot behind those eight letters. There are children receiving care in Liberia, people choosing to spend their lives serving others, teams crossing an ocean, a store in Cartersville where every purchase gives back, and a growing family of people who believe the words of Matthew 25:40 are meant to be lived!

What started with a desire to simply love people well has become something far greater than we could have planned, and every day we get to watch God continue to write the story.
