From the edge of her seat, choking back tears and watching every single move the team made… to sitting peacefully on the edge of the bed with her sleeping baby girl, stable and hooked up to an IV, with a smile that says everything words never could. All within one hour.

When this precious three-month-old was admitted to the inpatient ward at the Jesus Loves Me Children’s Center, her mama was praying with everything she had that the team could help her sweet girl. Our team did not skip a beat. They never do.

That's the journey our Better Together Ambassadors made possible for the residents living at His Safe Haven! Last year, caregivers were starting every single morning on their knees, lifting children up off the ground. Every night, lowering them back down. Over and over. Day after day.

So we asked our team to help change that. We needed to buy 36 bed frames to make this possible and in just 8 hours, our Better Together Ambassadors surpassed that goal!

Throughout this month, we have been reflecting on what it means to stand “From the Edge of the Bed” as stories of healing and hope continue to unfold at the Jesus Loves Me Children’s Center.

In April alone, 4,985 children were served through outpatient care, inpatient treatment, and immunizations, and that does not even include the children returning for ongoing care through the chronic illness clinics. This level of care is only possible because of your commitment to give faithfully each month through The Collective.

This month marks our 6th May Match. What started in 2021 as a way to celebrate our founder Daryl Roberts’ 50th birthday and raise $50,000 quickly became something much bigger when a generous donor stepped in and offered to match every gift.

Since then, the mission has grown tremendously. What was once a vision for a healthcare center is now one of the busiest pediatric facilities in Liberia. Since opening the doors of the Jesus Loves Me Children’s Center, more than 35,000 children have received care because this place exists and because people like you continue to say yes to this mission.

Now, six years later, the match has grown too. Every dollar given during May Match will be doubled up to $250,000.

Every time we stand at the edge of a hospital bed beside a mother waiting and hoping for her child to heal, we are reminded why this work matters so deeply. And if you could sit there too, you would understand why we continue asking others to be part of it.
