π³οΈβπ πππ»π² πΆπ π£πΏπΆπ±π² π πΌπ»ππ΅: Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board Proclamation in Honor of LGBTQ+ PRIDE MONTH
Whereas, the core values of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools include providing a safe and welcoming environment for all students and staff, and supporting collaboration with diverse communities and families; and
Whereas, CHCCS celebrates the accomplishments of le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, non-binary, and intersex people and recognizes that LGBTQ+ Pride Month is celebrated each year in the month of June; and
Whereas, Pride Month honors the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan and celebrates the many contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals, including transgender and q***r people; and
Whereas, CHCCS recognizes that LGBTQ+ people of color, immigrants, people with disabilities, multi-language learners, and economically disadvantaged people experience intersectional oppression and need recognition and validation of all aspects of their identities; and
Whereas, CHCCS recognizes that the current wave of anti-LGBTQ+ state and federal legislation contributes to harassment, creates a climate of intolerance, and can make it challenging for students to learn and thrive; and
Whereas, CHCCS is committed to maintaining our values of respect and inclusion for all, including our LGBTQ+ students, families, and staff;
Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools District proclaims the month of June to be LGBTQ+ Pride Month and will honor and highlight the identities and contributions of CHCCS LGBTQ+ students, staff, and families.
