Our next workshop, happening on June 13, is on turning pens. This is a great project for honing your fine work woodturning skills. Materials provided include enough pen hardware kits to make 3 pens. Each of these will make a great one-of-a-kind gift: perhaps keep one for yourself and give two to friends or family members! Auman and his helpers will guide you along during the process of creating your own pen.

Participant count is limited and reservations are required, so contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible to ensure your place at one of our workshop’s lathes. We hope you can join us.

Bob has been kindly been keeping the Chapel Hill Woodturners very well stocked with green wood these past few months. This past Friday, a few of us joined him to help get more wood for the club and get some chainsaw instruction in the process. Despite the heat, it was a fun afternoon. Happy turning, everyone!

Looking for something to do tomorrow morning (Saturday April 11th)? Come see the Chapel Hill Woodturners at the Carrboro Farmer's Market! We will be displaying some of our items, as well as turning and coloring tops with the kids.

We do this at least once a year and we love meeting people and talking about woodturning. Come stop by - we will be there 7-noon.

Our next workshop, happening on May 2, is on turning a sphere. This unusual turning project is fun and rewarding in itself, and you will leave with a unique turned wooden piece of your own making, but you'll also leave with skills available for use on other projects, such as making good use of a jam chuck.

Alan Leland is an accomplished instructor who has hosted numerous workshops at John C. Campbell Folk School. Alan and his helpers will guide you along during the process of creating your own sphere.

Participant count is limited and reservations are required, so contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible to ensure your place at one of our workshop’s lathes. We hope you can join us.

Our next workshop, happening on April 4, is on turning a 7-inch three-footed bowl. Frank Penta is a master level woodturner who is incredibly well versed in all three aspects mentioned in the description below: a three-footed base, texture tools embellishments, and wood laminations. Frank will certainly educate and entertain you as he demonstrates his skills on a lathe. Frank and his helpers will guide you through the process of creating your own masterpiece.

Participant count is limited and reservations are required, so contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible to ensure your place at one of our workshop’s lathes. We hope you can join us.
