Bee Health Collective The Bee Health Collective
is a collaboration of stakeholder organizations to gather and share current, credible information about honey bee health.

Founded by Project Apis m. and the National Honey Board in 2019, the Bee Health Collective is a repository of information about bee health in the USA. The mission of this project is to gather and provide a ‘one stop shop’ resource of accessible, credible information about honey bee health, honey bee research, the beekeeping industry, and how these relate to important things like agriculture, resource management and food.

We’re hiring a Development Director to support PAm and BHC missions by working with our remote team, our Board of Directors, and Development Committee to secure the financial resources necessary to achieve our mission through individual, corporate, and foundation giving.

Since 2006, we have funded over $13 million in honey bee research and $5 million in forage programs. PAm and BHC are financially healthy with many untapped donor prospects. The development director will lead the team in identifying and engaging new prospects and in building out current funder relationships.

We offer a collaborative and flexible workplace. Join us in advancing honey bee health and supporting sustainable beekeeping businesses! Learn more about this job opportunity here: https://www.projectapism.org/pam-blog/now-hiring-development-director-2026

The great thing about beekeeping is that when you become a beekeeper, you join a whole network of bee advocates and knowledgeable bee experts that support one another to learn through hands-on experience. Beekeepers like George Hansen embrace mentorship by opening up his own headquarters to help new beekeepers learn during the Portland Metro Beekeepers Association annual Bee Day event.

It’s a great example of creating an opportunity for beekeepers to come together, share advice, and learn from one another:

The Portland Metro Beekeepers Association held its annual Bee Day event May 9 at Foothills Honey Farm in Colton, Ore. “This is to introduce beginner beekeepers into hives and get […]

World Bee Day is May 20th! This global initiative came from Slovenia, which has the highest density of beekeepers in the EU (the photo is one of many colorful Slovenian hive huts!) Slovenia is the indigenous home of the beloved Carniolan bee, widely used in the USA and Canada. Slovenia’s leadership doesn’t stop there, they offer and announce a global award, The Golden Bee Award, each year.

This year’s award is for advancing research on bees and PAm is thrilled to be considered for this recognition! We are so honored and appreciative that our work is recognized on a global level with others doing outstanding work advancing research on bees and other pollinators. Congratulations to all the organizations and people around the world dedicated to protecting and improving pollinator health!

The award ceremony is scheduled for World Bee Day at 9am PDT and will be live-streamed here: https://www.youtube.com/?utm_source=fb_page&utm_medium=Project+Apis+m.&utm_campaign=publer
