Dear Friends of Willow Springs,
“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8. If we’ve visited at all about how the needs of Willow Springs Boys Ranch are provided for, you’ve heard me quote or at least allude to this verse. It works both as a prayer for provision and a prayer of thanksgiving for the provision. “God provides so that we can give.” This is true as it relates to Willow Springs Boys Ranch. This is my 22nd year to write a year end letter inviting you to consider investing in the ministry and mission of the ranch. Each year that I write the letter I am humbled and overwhelmed by your response. I am so thankful for your faithfulness. You truly are the conduit by which 2nd Corinthians 9:8 comes to fruition at Willow Springs.
Because God provides (through you) we give at Willow Springs Boys Ranch. Our small team gives of their lives entirely, tirelessly and with full resolve. I am in awe daily, watching as our house parents, John and Amy, invest into the lives of the boys in their care. Esther, our counselor, serves the boys well by helping them unpack their stories and develop the skills necessary to express their words and emotions in helpful and productive ways. In all that we do, our goal is not just to help boys with real, practical and tangible needs, but ultimately to point them to Jesus as the One who meets our ultimate need. What an amazing job this team does at that.
This past year there has been a shift to caring for younger boys, ages eight through fourteen. Caring for younger boys requires a different energy level than that required with the older boys we’ve had in the past. It has been a rewarding season seeing the changes and progress we witness in the younger boys. At the same time, we are currently getting to assist four post-high school young men in the Graduate House, who have spent various amounts of time previously with Willow Springs. In the graduate house, young men receive the opportunity to work towards self-sufficient and independent living while feeling the love, care and support that Willow Springs has to offer. God’s provision through your giving enables us to afford them such an opportunity.
We are looking with anticipation to another year of serving those in our care. I invite you to continue with provision so that we can give. Thank you!
By His Grace,
Derin Carr
