🖋️ 75 Years of Service | Where It All Began | Post #37

January 31, 1951.

That's the date Carmel Valley Kiwanis officially received its charter from Kiwanis International.

Seventy-five years ago, a group of local residents came together with a shared commitment to service, laying the foundation for what would become generations of community involvement.

This is a photograph of our original 1951 charter, complete with the signatures of the founding members who helped bring Carmel Valley Kiwanis to life.

Those original members probably couldn't have imagined all the scholarships awarded, community events supported, and countless volunteer hours that would follow.

But 75 years later, the commitment they made continues.
Same Valley. Same Spirit of Service. 75 Years Later.

💙75 Years of Service | Why I Serve | Post #34

Why do you serve?

As we celebrate 75 years of Carmel Valley Kiwanis, we’re asking some of our members that simple question, and letting them answer in their own words.

We’re starting with Mike Wecker, our current Club President and a Kiwanian for 18 years. Mike and his wife Cheryl are familiar faces at our events, including managing the Hoopla Silent Auction each year.

So, Mike... Why do you serve?

75 Years of Service | Behind the Wheel | Post #32

Sometimes service comes with a set of keys.

Carmel Valley Kiwanians were behind the wheel at The Quail, shuttling guests throughout the event and raising funds that will help support local programs and organizations throughout the year.

It’s one of the many ways our members roll up their sleeves and pitch in — and have some fun doing it.

A special thank you to The Quail Events for inviting Carmel Valley Kiwanis to participate and for making local giving part of such an extraordinary event. Partnerships like this allow a couple of days of volunteer time to turn into something much bigger.

That’s what 75 years of service looks like — finding ways to show up, pitch in and make a difference.

75 Years of Service | From the Archives | Post #31

Do You Recognize Anyone?

We’re going back 30 years for this one.

This photo of Carmel Valley Kiwanians was taken in 1996 — and we want to see how good your memory is.

Recognize any of these faces? Know where they were or what they were doing?

Drop the names…and any stories you remember…in the comments.

One hint: It’s a tradition that’s still going strong today to raise money that goes right back into our community. 🎄

🎒 75 Years of Service | Back to School, Back to Our Mission | Post #30

As local students head back to school this week, there’s a lot of excitement ahead—new classrooms, new teachers, new friendships and another year of opportunities to learn and grow.

For Carmel Valley Kiwanis, it’s also a reminder of why supporting local youth has been at the heart of what we do for generations.

The support our community gives Kiwanis at events like Hoopla and Fiesta helps make that possible—including scholarships that help local students take their next step after graduation.

This photo takes us back to our 2005 Scholarship Awards, with longtime Kiwanian and familiar Carmel Valley face, John Estep, at the podium. For decades, supporting local students as they take their next steps has been an important part of our mission.

Different students, different generations, but the same commitment to helping young people succeed.

So as backpacks get packed and classrooms fill up again, we wish all of our local students, teachers, school staff and families a great start and a wonderful school year ahead!

This is why we do what we do.
