TUG CAPTAINS SPEAK AT JUNE LUNCHEON
Port Canaveral Tugboat Captains Cody Bocco from E.N. Bisso & Son and Connor MacDonald from Marine Towing of Port Canaveral were the guest speakers at the Propeller Club’s June Luncheon. They are two of the Captains of the red and yellow ship assist tugs that are often seen working in the harbor. Luncheon attendees were excited to hear the specifics of what the tugs do every day to support maritime operations at the Port. Both speakers discussed their highly maneuverable tugs, the career paths that brought them to their positions as Captains, and some of the more challenging jobs they are called upon to do such as assisting nuclear powered subs. Marine Towing Director of Operations Dwayne Keith also spoke giving insight into his company and the Tug industry. Thank you to the Tug Captains and companies for the invaluable, highly professional service they provide at Port Canaveral every day. And a special thanks to Marine Towing for their support of the PropellerClub and especially the annual Shrimpfeast fundraiser!

MAY NETWORKING HAPPY HOUR
We had a great turnout for our May Happy Hour at Rising Tide Tap & Table hosted by Certerra. The food and service was outstanding as always and the camaraderie was fantastic! Each year the Propeller Club supports the Rockledge High School HELM Maritime Studies program with financial support for the coming school year. This year Propeller Club President Bruce Cameron and Education Committee member Rich Grimison delivered a check for $4500 to HELM Director and Teacher Emily Dyer and RHS Principal Andy Papczynski.

Port Canaveral Harbor Tugs and the Port Fireboat supported the recent National Maritime observance. Tug companies Marine Towing of Port Canaveral and E.N. Bisso & Son Harbor Tugs will be panelists at the Propeller Club's June luncheon scheduled for Wednesday, June 3 at 11:30 am at Fishlips Waterfront Bar & Grill. NATIONAL MARITIME DAY OBSERVANCE
The Port Canaveral National Maritime Day observance was held Saturday, May 23 by the Navy League, Cape Canaveral Council, The Propeller Club of Port Canaveral, and the Space Coast Chapter, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Association. Port Canaveral Harbor Tug companies Marine Towing and Bisso, the Port Canaveral Fireboat, and the Pilot Boat participated with salutes and escorts. A memorial wreath was laid on the waters of the harbor and RADM Wayne Justice, USCG, former Port Commission Chairman, was among those especially remembered during the ceremonies. Special guests included Capt. Willie Barrere, President of the American Maritime Officers union and CDR Matthew Zinn, USCG, CO of Marine Safety Unit, Port Canaveral. Thank you to all who participated!

The Propeller Club of Port Canaveral will be joining the Navy League and the Space Coast Chapter of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Alumni for the Port Canaveral annual National Maritime Day observance tomorrow, Saturday, May 23, at 10 am at Rusty's Seafood & Oyster Bar, Port Canaveral. This event is open to the public.

Today, we celebrate National Maritime Day and recognize the vital role of the maritime industry in powering global trade and connecting our world.

From the dedicated men and women at sea to those working behind the scenes in ports, logistics, and supply chains—your commitment keeps commerce moving and economies growing.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE WRAPS UP THE SCHOOL YEAR
The Propeller Club's Education Committee wrapped up the school year last week with their final meeting until August. The committee holds a monthly breakfast meeting at Marmalade Restaurant in Rockledge to plan the Education related initiatives of the club. These include support for the RHS HELM Maritime program by coordinating field trips to Port Canaveral, classroom speakers, and career shadow days; planning annual scholarships, coordinating with Brevard Public Schools CTE initiatives, and working with the Port Authority and other partners to further opportunities for students and to educate the general public on the importance of the maritime industry to the nation's economic and national security.
