This truly breaks our hearts. We grieve any first responder that passes away, but we take it personally when the loss is intentional. All first responders deserve to go home to the people that love them.

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we learn Deputy Katherine Frank has succumbed to her injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends, and all the Minnehaha County Deputies who just lost one of their own.

We want them to know they are not alone in their grief. We mourn alongside them and stand with them during this heartbreaking time.

May God wrap His loving arms around Katherine and bring comfort, strength, and peace to all those who loved her.

Today we had our Open House, and we want to thank all who attended. We have responded to three calls in the last 24 hours in addition to the hours we put in at the Open House. Many members have given quite a bit of time to the community today, and we want to thank and acknowledge that as well. We will continue to show up for our community each day, regardless of the time commitment. We also ask the members of the community to consider volunteering with us as well. Yes, it is a time commitment. However, it is well worth the time. We have paper applications that can be received by getting in touch with a current member. We have an online application that can be found on the city website. Thank you.

Unimaginable. Our heart goes out to the officer and family.

Our hearts are with the Minnehaha County Deputy who was injured, her family, and her fellow law enforcement officers. We’re keeping her close in our thoughts and prayers, hoping for her healing and recovery. We stand with her and the entire Minnehaha County law enforcement family during this difficult time.

Members of the CVFD went into the schools yesterday and today to talk to the kids about fire safety. As always, we had a blast and can't wait to do it again next year. Thank you to all involved for the opportunity!

CVFD normally does not visit the high school during fire safety week. Today we were dispatched to the high school a little before noon for a general alarm. Thankfully, it was a routine call for us. We appreciated the warm welcome from the students, and we made it back in time to see our friends from Friendship Preschool!

We are in fire prevention week! The CVFD will be in the elementary school and preschools the next couple days. This is our reminder to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

We are proud to host this EMR class. This class leads to state and national certification. The more people we have with medical experience, the more effective we can be!

Cost of the course will be $750 and includes instruction, books, website access for instruction and testing, NREMT practical exam, and 1st attempt for NREMT cognitive exam.
