Hi Everyone! SBM had a very busy week of adoptions and we are thankful (and a little worn out ☺️) BUT we have so much more work to do. We also pulled in several true rescues. We are talking about the dogs that need a little extra TLC but are so deserving! At the core of who we are we WANT to help the dogs that need us the most. The ones people have let down. The ones who have been with us the longest and need a home that understands patience, love and kindness is the ONLY way to rehabilitation. This week most of our posts will highlight those dogs. If you are looking for a perfect dog, this is not the week for you.
Lets start with Charlie. Charlie came to us from a hoarding case from GCAC. Charlie has been with Foster Tracy who also runs Romeo’s Doghouse, a fantastic doggy daycare and boarding facility. Let’s have Tracy tell you about sweet Charlie.
Charlie, who is about 5 years old, 9 lbs, arrived at our home a few months ago displaying signs of fear and distrust towards his surroundings. It took some time for him to build trust with us, and we made sure to let Charlie dictate the pace of his progress. I was overjoyed when he eventually hopped onto my desk chair and settled in behind me, a spot that remains his favorite to this day. With the support of my three personal dogs, Charlie has made great strides in boosting his confidence and social skills, allowing us to introduce him to the larger playground area where our boarding dogs play. Charlie did fantastic, engaging in play with other dogs or politely declining when he prefered not to participate. I believe Charlie would do well in a calm and quiet home, especially if he has another pup to snuggle with. He is fully house trained, crate trained, and has a healthy appetite.
