United Midcoast Charities

United Midcoast Charities Since 1942, UMC has supported local organizations addressing the basic needs of food, housing, health & safety, and economic security.

Since 1942, UMC has been dedicated to the support of organizations providing the basic needs of food, housing, health & safety, and economic security through financial & organizational support, tangible resources, and education. Think of us as your one-stop shop for charitable giving - a safety net for thousands of people and the agencies that provide essential services to your neighbors in need.

UMC grants touch 1 in 3 residents here in Knox and Waldo counties. Giving to UMC is:

Easy and Effective: Give once to support food banks, health clinics, nursing services, youth organizations, housing providers, and many other agencies throughout Knox and Waldo counties. Flexible and Enduring: You can give single contributions or arrange for repeat donations, or arrange a planned gift as your legacy. Efficient: 100% of your donation goes directly to supported agencies, not to cover any UMC operating or fundraising expenses. Responsible: Through our competitive grant application process, we ensure that grantees put your gift to effective use. Ethical: We follow the Maine Association of Nonprofits' best practices and ensure fiscal responsibility through annual, independent audits. Tax-deductible: UMC is a 501.c3 nonprofit organization, so 100% of your gift(s) is tax-deductible.

We’re in the final stretch! Our fundraising year ends June 30, and we’re just shy of our annual goal. Every gift is still being matched up to $15,000 through June 30, so your support goes twice as far right now. If you’ve been meaning to give, this is the moment. Let’s close the year strong and make sure our Midcoast neighbors have what they need. Donate now at www.unitedmidcoastcharities.org/donate.

We’re so close to our annual goal as we head toward the end of our fundraising year on June 30. And right now, every gift is being matched up to $15,000 through June 30, which means your support goes twice as far to help neighbors across Knox and Waldo Counties with food, housing, healthcare, safety, security, and more. Let’s finish strong together and make sure everyone in our Midcoast community has what they need. Donate now at www.unitedmidcoastcharities.org/donate.

Our next LEARN@UMC workshop, AI for Nonprofits: Building Confidence with the Basics, is designed to do exactly that. This hands-on session will help nonprofit staff and volunteers feel more comfortable using AI tools in their everyday work.

Participants will explore practical ways AI can help with:
• Drafting and editing emails and social media posts
• Brainstorming ideas
• Organizing information
• Saving time on routine tasks
