After 30 years of hosting a charity golf tournament, we have decided to discontinue our company golf tournament. This was a tough decision, as last year, we reached our 30th year which was momentous. We had a nice turnout and a fun day. However, we feel it’s a good year for us to hang our hat and be proud of what we have accomplished.

We have raised and donated $179,600 for The Maine Cancer Foundation as well as additional funds donated to local families battling cancer every year. Before we started raising money for the MCF, we were proud to have MDA be the beneficiary of our efforts. During that stretch, we raised over $300,000 for MDA from our golf tournament, shamrock sales, jail ‘n bail and other events.

To say we are very proud is an understatement. Our team has always been “hands on” with such a drive to help others in need and none of it would be possible without the loyal support from you. No question.

If you haven’t heard the news yet, we will be building a sports complex in Thomaston called The WareHouse Sport Complex which will be dedicated to my parents. Our plans include three high school sized basketball courts, three pickleball courts, golf simulators, batting cages, weight room, community rooms, etc. Our goal is to create a local hub for wellness and attract all generations. We will be hosting basketball tournaments and sports clinics throughout the year. Our main focus will be on youth skill development. We are well underway in the planning stages and look to break ground this fall.

Once we are up and running, we will restart our efforts to continue to raise money for The Maine Cancer Foundation. We will no doubt continue to help other organizations as well. It will be fun, and we are looking forward to it. Should you do Facebook, please follow our progress at The WareHouse Sports Complex.

Thank you for your support all these years. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Sincerely,

Susan & Team

"We have helped numerous families throughout Midcoast Maine with direct donations and fulfilling individual needs. In addition, this $15,000 donation brings the total we have donated directly to the Maine Cancer Foundation to $179,600," says Susan W. Page, President of Maritime Energy.
"Our team knows first hand the impact cancer has had on our lives. The easy thing to do is nothing. That is not in our DNA. We are driven to help raise money to help those battling cancer and donating money towards cancer research. All the work we do is on Maritime time or volunteering our time. Not a penny is paid in wages. We are all volunteers and 100% of the money raised is donated which makes our non-profit even more meaningful in our efforts," says Susan.

We are saddened with the passing of Russ Wolfertz. He helped us start the Karen's 5k and was in charge of the route every year. He coordinated with the city and made sure the course was safe for everyone. You were one of a kind Russ and we will cherish our memories forever!

We are thrilled to be able to donate $15,000 to the Maine Cancer Foundation. Our Maritime Energy team has done a fantastic job running our golf tournament and our supporters have been so loyal over the years.

2023 will mark the 29th year of having a golf outing. The money we raise from our non-profit, Energy 4 Life, goes to the Maine Cancer Foundation and also helps local people fighting cancer. "I’m amazed every year with the types of cancer and the ages of the people impacted are so diverse. It shows cancer doesn’t discriminate,” states Susan Page, Maritime Energy’s President.

Dear Supporters,

After 10 years, I have decided to end Karen’s 5k Run/Walk. Last year we had to cancel due to covid and it seems appropriate after 10 years that it’s time
to change things up. We have had a great ride, an emotional and worthy one, and our work continues. We are not stopping Energy 4 Life and we continue to be committed to supporting people fighting cancer.

We will continue to raise money for our non-profit, Energy 4 Life, through our company golf tournament. Our goal is to raise even more money at that event.
We would also like to find ways to raise money for Energy 4 Life through other fundraisers in the future.

I’m really proud of the work we have accomplished. We have hosted over 1,000 runners/walkers, had nearly 50 passionate volunteers every year, helped 7-10 local families dealing with various types of cancer each year and donated $146,900 to the Maine Cancer Foundation in this time period.

A special heartfelt thank you to Angie Matero, who without all her help and overflowing dedication, the 5k would not have been possible. An enormous thank you to Russ Wolfertz who has been right there with me from the start and created a safe 5k route every year. To Andrew Bonarrigo and Wendy Lawler, who volunteered their time to recording the race results, a gigantic appreciation for their help.

To all the volunteers who have made the 5k feasible, to the business partners and friends who religiously sponsored the event, to all the people who donated items to our raffle, to the people and businesses who donated towards the cause, to our community, a BIG THANK YOU!
While thank you doesn’t seem enough, but please know you have made a difference in the lives of others.

Be assured, while our 5k no longer will be, we will continue to help people dealing with cancer through our non-profit, Energy 4 Life.

Stay well!

Cheers,
Susan
