BACK-TO-SCHOOL "PASTS" EDITION!

This is especially for all of you long time CAP supporters who love to see updates! We thought it would be fun to take a look at what "Back-to-School" looks like these days for some of our Pasts!

KARRN (1992 Miss Cambridge & 1994 Aquatennial Princess) has five boys heading off to school! They are all athletes, just like their parents, and they all enjoy "competing" as a family, too...like pentathlon and mountain climbing! Jeremiah (JJ) is 16, Joshua is 14, twins Micah & Noah are 12, and Elijah is 10.

ANGIE (1993 Miss Cambridge) has twin daughters heading off to their first year of college! Addison is at the University of Iowa and Hailey is at Arizona State University. She also has a 22-year-old son Noah.

AMY (1995 Miss Cambridge) has two daughters still in school. Her softball state champion daughter Rikka moved back to MIlwaukee (Milwaukee School of Engineering...yeah, talented AND smart!) for year #2 and daughter Elin (softball player and wrestler!) is a junior in high school.

CHRISTINA (1997 Princess) and her husband are suddenly empty nesters with both of their boys in college! Whaaaaaat? Dominic is a junior at the University of Arizona and Christian is a freshman at Washington State University Pullman!

PEGGY (1999 Ambassador) has a senior (Lucy), sophomore (Miles), and an 8th grader (Drake) off to school this year!

DARON (2002 Ambassador) has the family she's always dreamed of and they are finally all in school! Connor is heading off to 6th grade, Quinn is in 4th, Darby is a second grader, and "baby" Jack is in PreK!

KATELYN (2006 Ambassador) has three lovely little ladies and two are off to school already! Claire is a 5th grader (the grade KATELYN taught before she started her family!) and Greta is a 3rd grader, while Thea is a pre-schooler starting on a different day.

SAGE (2018 Little Miss) is starting her sophomore year, but as a part-time PSEO student at ARCC in addition to high school! This is what happens when you work hard and prove you can handle college classes as an underclassman!

This was fun! Watch for Volume 2 of the Back-to-School "Pasts" Edition coming soon!

BACK-TO-SCHOOL NEWS!

This post is not about being a student, but rather the start of a TEACHING career!

JAZZY (2012) was living her best life in Florida for the last four years, but both she and her partner found themselves feeling homesick for their families and home state.

They put their home on the market, and then she heard about the open art teacher position in Mahnomen...the timing was divine and here she is!

Have an incredible first year teaching, JAZZY...and
WELCOME HOME TO MINNESOTA!

2025s GET TOGETHER!

After reuniting at the Torchlight Parade, the 2025s made a date for lunch and a frolic in the park!

Unfortunately for FAITH, something came up at the last minute, but SIENA, LILY, and Little Miss REMMIE had a fun little reunion!

BEST DATE EVER!

With our Ambassador summer coming to a close and many back-to-school posts in the forecast, here's our favorite one first!

We took our Little Miss VIVI on a mini shopping excursion to Target and let her pick out some very cute things to keep us near to her heart while she's working hard learning 2nd Grade things!

We finished off a lovely adventure with some DQ deliciousness, of course!

NEW TEACHERS' LUNCHEON!

The Rotary Club of Cambridge & Isanti, together with the North 65 Chamber of Commerce, put on this spectacular event each year for all the new teachers in C-I Schools and all the others in Isanti County!

This year, due to different school starting dates caused by the late Labor Day holiday, not all could attend. But those who did were treated to the usual catered lunch, fresh apples, and swag bags filled with gifts from local businesses!

We were extra excited to see several members of our CAP family there...BECKY, who was helping with the meal, and KIM from the Leadership Team! We also got to connect with MARIAH's sponsor MONTE (Dr. Monte's Auto) and celebrate JUANITA PETERSON, who was given an award for her community service and philanthropic support. JUANITA is the grandma of our 1995 Little Miss Cambridge KAAREN and is still vital at age 99!

This event is a remarkable way to welcome our new teachers, and we are always delighted to be included!

*Thanks to JENNY for chaperoning and snapping these pics for us!

THE GREAT MINNESOTA GET-TOGETHER!

We ended up picking a record-setting opening day to attend the State Fair...but our reward was that the weather was PERFECTION! The crowds died down significantly by suppertime, and we had ourselves quite a time!

We started with the Daily Mall parade along with Lino Lakes, Sartell, and Sauk Rapids in the State Fair Visiting Royalty Trolley. It was fun to see people we knew along the route!

After the parade, we went into the Dairy Building to get a pic with the new Princess Kay Jena, but she was elsewhere filming a documentary. It was wall-to-wall people in there anyway, and we were feeling rather claustrophobic! 😬

We were happy to be back in the fresh air where we ran into Ian Leonard (Fox 9 Meteorologist) who took a selfie with us...we have a long history together because of our mutual Special Olympics connections. Such a kind guy!

Then Little Miss VIVI and her family split off and went their own way...they saw a lumberjack show, and Viv was determined to get a picture with Princess Kay! She got one, along with one of the finalists who is from neighboring Princeton.

At WCCO, meteorologist Chris Shaffer gave us a shout out during his weather segment on the 6:00 news, and then we ventured off for some fair food. Although everything we tried was delicious, our favorite was the strawberries and chocolate! By the time we realized we should probably consume some protein along with all the carbs, fat, and sugar, our bellies were full. Oh, well!

Fair aficionado AIMEE OLSON (1998) tracked us down after judging a food contest and we had a delightful time visiting with her, as well as with the kids who saw "princesses" standing right there in the street and swooped right in!

What we learned about wearing crowns at the Fair:
*People call out "congratulations!" as you walk by
OR
*They ask if you're Princess Kay
OR
*They see "Cambridge" and stop you to tell a story about their connection to our town!

It's all perfectly wonderful and we will never tire of being proud to be walking billboards for our community...no matter where we are!

*Thanks to LAURIE for chaperoning and to MIRANDA for adding some photos of VIVI's fun at the Fair!

PIGSKIN PREVIEW 2026!

What fun to be invited to be a part of the kick-off to football season at CIHS...from youth teams all the way up to the Varsity squad!

There was something for everyone leading up to the scrimmage: face painting, tattoos, bounce house, food trucks, contests...and even opportunities to smash pie in the coaches' faces!

*Thanks to JESSICA for chaperoning and grabbing these pics of all the fun!
