Throwback Thursday—

We’re throwing it back to one of the most impactful pieces of legislation in U.S. history:
The GI Bill. 📜🖋️

In 1943, Past National Commander Harry W. Colmery drafted the initial ideas for the Servicemen's Readjustment Act on hotel stationery in Washington, D.C. The American Legion aggressively championed the bill, which officially passed in 1944—changing the lives of millions of veterans through education, housing, and unemployment benefits.
