Burnet County Neighbors – we are at a major crossroads for the future of our county.

As many of you have likely heard by now, we have some major high power transmission lines planned for the northern half of Burnet County. The impacts extend far beyond the properties they traverse. Transmission infrastructure will shape what kinds of development follow, including data centers and large-scale battery storage, which could permanently change the landscape and character of our county. So the time to advocate for our area is now, before these lines put a big target on our area.

Over the next few months, the Hill County Land & Legacy Alliance will be hosting a few community presentations to help people better understand the high-voltage transmission lines proposed for Burnet County. These presentations are not about advocating for or against any specific segment. The goal is simply to share clear, factual information, explain the broader risks and implications, and help people understand how to stay informed and engaged, so we can do everything in our power to encourage responsible infrastructure growth that aligns with our community values.

The Commissioners Court will also be hosting at least one event, possibly more. I have included the details on that below, along with the events we are hosting. For additional details please visit our website – www.StopThisLine.com.

Please come out and learn more about what is proposed for our beautiful county, and what it could mean for our future.

Clarification regarding train and power lines:

Hello! I wanted to clarify as I’m getting lots of questions. 🙂

The quarry train project is still halted. However there is a new project, the Oncor/LCRA transmission line project. The transmission line routes are crossing over a lot of the same landowners as the quarry train route and many more, so we are using our platform here to help share info. Another page and group has been set up exclusively for the transmission line, and you can find some great info there. Start with this page BIG HILL 765 kv Transmission Line Project Updates

You can also find info directly on the LCRA website. (Link in comments).⬇️

As always , feel free to message me for more info!

Update from Save Burnet:

1) LCRA's Decision on Asphalt Inc.

By now, many of you have received the LCRA email/letter dated June 18, 2025, confirming that more than 2,000 public comments were reviewed, and despite concerns, LCRA has approved the quarry/mine permit. While this is a disappointment, it does not derail our mission.

👉 What’s next?
We are now intensifying our focus on the remaining critical permit processes:

Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District (CTGCD): We are monitoring local wells near FM 3509 and engaging the District to challenge groundwater impacts.

TXDOT, TPWD & Federal Fish Hatchery Discussions: We are in talks with each about traffic, wildlife, and environmental protections.

Legal Readiness: Should Asphalt Inc. secure all permits, we are prepared to file a misrepresentation lawsuit in Burnet County.

We remain committed to doing all we can—by all means possible—to stop this project.

2) Keeping the Momentum

Our team is working hard behind the scenes—gathering data, honing legal strategies, and preparing for every avenue of defense.

Supports like yours—through staying informed, donating, and spreading the word—keep this movement alive and strong.

💚 Stay Strong… We’re In It for the Long Haul

Though LCRA’s decision is not what we’d hoped, it hasn’t shaken our resolve. We have a multi-front plan and a dedicated team ready to fight at every turn. Even if Asphalt Inc. obtains all permits, we’ll challenge them in court.

Your ongoing involvement truly matters—we’re building something powerful together. If you can, please donate via our GoFundMe or mail a check to SaveBurnet.com to help cover legal and monitoring efforts.
