One of our college coaches said something recently that made our whole day.

Coach Kenzie (pictured in the green skirt) shared that when she’s playing in tournaments, she can often tell when someone grew up in First Tee.

Not because of their golf swing.

Because of the way they treat people.

They’re kind. Respectful. Friendly. They understand sportsmanship. They enjoy the camaraderie that makes this game so special and show respect for both the game and the people around them.

That comment hit me harder than she probably realized.

Because while we love helping young golfers improve their game, we’re really playing a much longer game than that.

We’re not just teaching golf.

We’re helping shape future leaders, teammates, coworkers, parents, and community members.

As we get ready to welcome a new group of 5–6 year olds next week, we’re reminded that we’re not just playing for today.

We’re playing to positively impact the future. 💚⛳

And for the record… Coach Kenzie may be one of the smallest people in this photo, but don’t let that fool you. She has a fierce golf swing!

Some of the best conversations in golf happen between shots, and that's one of our favorite parts of Teen Camp Week.

Whether your teen is picking up a club for the first time or has participated in First Tee for years, this is a week they won't want to miss.

Our Teen Golf Camp is designed for golfers ages 14+ and will bring a fresh energy, new experiences, and opportunities to learn from college golfers and First Tee alumni who will share how golf has impacted their lives in unique ways.

It's a chance to hear real stories, ask questions, build relationships, and see where the game can take them—both on and off the golf course.

Of course, we'll spend plenty of time developing golf skills, but this week is about more than golf. It's about building confidence, making connections, learning from others, and creating memories along the way.

📍 Oak Hurst Golf Course

✔ No experience required
✔ Clubs provided if needed
✔ Scholarship information available during registration

Registration closes one week before camp begins or when camp reaches capacity.

Many of our Teen Camp participants also enjoy our monthly Flight Club events throughout the year. In fact, June's Flight Club is scheduled for June 26 and is a FREE event for teens ages 12–18. Space is limited, so be sure to check it out while spots remain! Visit our website to learn more.

What a week with this incredible group of 10–13 year old golfers! ⛳💚

This group brought great attitudes, lots of energy, and a willingness to learn. We saw new skills develop, friendships grow, confidence build, and plenty of laughs along the way.

One of the highlights of the week was getting to finish camp on the main golf course, where these golfers had the opportunity to put their skills into action and experience the game in a whole new way.

A special thank you to Oak Hurst Golf-Course for being part of these young golfers’ journey in the game and helping create opportunities for them to learn and grow through golf.

We’ve uploaded lots of photos from the week, so feel free to save any pictures of your golfer. 📸 And if you share them on social media, we’d love for you to tag Tee - Greater Tyler so we can celebrate those memories with you.

We’re going to miss this group tomorrow, but we’re excited to see where their golf journey takes them next!

We’re seeking recommendations for a quality artificial turf company to upgrade the practice greens at our Tyler Parks and Rec facility at Woldert Park, in North Tyler.

This site serves kids from Tyler ISD, Lindale, Winona, Mineola, Quitman, and surrounding East Texas communities through First Tee programming. These upgrades will expand access and directly benefit the young people we serve every week.

We’re looking for a community-minded partner willing to work with a small nonprofit to maximize impact for local kids.

One of our favorite things about First Tee is watching kids realize they're capable of more than they thought.

This week our 10–13 year olds have been working on their short game while talking about Using Good Judgment and Collaborating with Others. We've seen golfers encouraging teammates, celebrating great shots, helping each other through challenges, and having a whole lot of fun along the way.

The golf skills are important, but so are the confidence, friendships, and life lessons that grow alongside them.

We've got a lot more fun planned for the rest of the week, and we can't wait to see what these golfers accomplish next.

If you've been thinking about giving First Tee a try, we still have openings in several summer camps and classes.

Several NEW classes have recently been added to create even more opportunities for young golfers to learn, play, and have fun this summer!

We've recently added new opportunities and still have openings in several existing camps for golfers ages 5–18.

✨ NEW Monday class for ages 5–6

✨ NEW Jacksonville class at Cherokee Ranch for ages 7–13

✨ NEW July 20–23 camp open to ages 7+

We also still have openings in select camps for ages 10–13 and 14+ throughout the summer.

What a fantastic week with our 7–9 year old summer campers! ⛳💚

This week was filled with learning, laughter, new friendships, fun challenges, and lots of golf. We loved watching these young golfers grow in confidence, encourage one another, and discover what they’re capable of both on and off the course.

A huge thank you to all of our campers and families for spending part of your summer with us. The smiles, high-fives, and excitement each day made this week one to remember!

⛳ Meet Coach Azeem ⛳

What started as curiosity quickly became something much more for Coach Azeem — a love for golf, its rich history, and the challenge that comes with learning, growing, and putting in the work to reach your goals.

That same mindset is what he brings to First Tee.

Coach Azeem has a calm and genuine presence that helps kids feel encouraged, supported, and confident enough to keep learning. It’s special to watch them hang on his every word — or glance back after a swing, already knowing guidance, encouragement, and support will be there.

Beyond First Tee, Azeem is an entrepreneur, husband to his beautiful wife Samantha, proud dad to baby Zane, and overall someone who brings the same dedication to life that he values in golf.

We’re grateful he chose to share his love for the game with our First Tee family and for the impact he’s making both on and off the course. 💚
