❤️🤍💙 Look for the Poppies This Memorial Day Weekend ❤️🤍💙

Today and tomorrow, members of the American Legion Auxiliary will be out distributing poppies at post offices in Bryan and College Station, as well as Lowe’s locations in Bryan and College Station.

The red poppy is a symbol of remembrance and sacrifice, honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Inspired by the poem “In Flanders Fields” following World War I, the poppy has become a lasting tribute to those who never made it home.

When you see our volunteers, please stop by, say hello, and wear a poppy proudly to help remember and honor our fallen heroes.

❤️ Wear it to remember. Wear it to honor. Wear it so they are never forgotten. 🇺🇸

Day 2 of 2nd Division Convention began with one of the most meaningful moments of the weekend — our Memorial Service, where we paused to honor members of our American Legion Family who are no longer with us. Their dedication, service, and impact will always be remembered. ❤️🇺🇸

We also had the opportunity to hear updates from Auxiliary districts across the Division and celebrate the incredible work being done to support veterans, military families, and communities across Texas.

Division President Licia Kim shared highlights from her year, including helping charter three new Auxiliary units during her term — a testament to continued growth and strengthening our mission of service.

Our guest speaker, Kale Murray, Brazos County Veteran Services Officer, shared valuable information about what Veteran Service Officers do and why it is so important for veterans to connect with a VSO. From benefits assistance to helping veterans navigate resources they have earned, VSOs play an important role in supporting those who served.

A fun connection from the day — Kale also shared that he attended high school with our ALA State President, Leigh-Ann.

Another meaningful day of remembrance, learning, leadership, and strengthening our commitment to service. 🇺🇸✨

Day One of the 2nd Division Convention is officially in the books at American Legion Auxiliary Unit 159 and American Legion Post 159! 🇺🇸

The day started bright and early with Unit 159 President Jeanne and Secretary Diana serving up delicious homemade breakfast casseroles prepared by our amazing Auxiliary members. Nothing brings people together quite like good food and fellowship!

We followed breakfast with a wonderful training session focused on membership retention and fundraising, filled with great ideas, shared experiences, and inspiration for continued growth across our units.

After lunch and a joint session together, a special presentation by Quilts of Valor was made. Attendees then split off for afternoon meetings. While some enjoyed a little downtime afterward, many of our dedicated volunteers stayed hard at work preparing table decorations and assembling beautiful charcuterie spreads for the evening social hour.

The day wrapped up with attendees enjoying a fantastic steak dinner and fellowship with Legion Family members from across the division.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Day One such a success — especially our volunteers working behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly! ❤️🤍💙

Licia and Marjean (not pictured 🤪) spent ALLLL day yesterday baking cakes for the 2nd Division Convention our Post is hosting this weekend!

We are expecting at least 80 units so that’s a lot of folks needing cake!
