Convergint corporate volunteers teamed up with people supported with Day Services to restore the gardening spaces and animal enclosures at Wheatley Farms. It was a wonderful morning filled with a lot of work and collaboration, which helps to maintain this welcoming space that provides opportunities for inclusion for people across the Long Island community.

Congratulations to the inaugural graduating class of the DSP Pathways program! Developed in partnership with Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District (CHSD), DSP Pathways is the first school-district-based pathway program of its kind in New York State, creating opportunities for high school seniors to explore careers in direct support while earning NADSP Level 1 E-Badge certification.

It was an afternoon of celebration with New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Willow Baer; Kathy Brown, Regional Manager of National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals - NADSP E-Badge Academy Operations; Dr. Michael Harrington, Superintendent of Bellmore-Merrick CHSD; Ann Hardiman, Chief Innovation Officer at the NY Alliance along with industry colleagues, families, and friends to recognize this next generation of leaders. Thank you to Senator Steve Rhoads, Assemblyman David McDonough, and Assemblyman Ed Ra for recognizing this important milestone with legislative citations.

The Syosset Garden Club planted fresh flowers in the planters at Nanette’s Garden over the weekend. This special place was created last year in memory of Nanette Muzante, the Horticulturist who tended to the grounds at Wheatley Farms for 25 years.
