WABSE- Westchester Alliance of Black School Educators WABSE was founded by six black administrators and educators in 1991, New Rochelle School District

WABSE is the first NABSE official affiliate of Westchester County to implement the mission of NABSE and to convene black educators and others, directly or indirectly involved in the educational process, to discuss, strategize and implement solutions to the unique problems they and their students face.

On August 24, 1839, nearly two centuries ago, the Spanish schooner La Amistad was seized off the coast of Montauk by American sailors. What began as a brutal act of enslavement on the coast of Sierra Leone ended as one of the most defining freedom cases in United States history.
