🗓 Oct 24th, 1 PM, Van Veghten House
What happened when the Revolution divided neighbors—and families?
Christoffel Vought and his son John remained Loyalists while their neighbor, Patriot leader Thomas Jones, supported the fight for independence. Their story reveals another side of the American Revolution, one that didn’t end when the war was over.
Join the Somerset County Historical Society’s Casual Conversations series on October 24 at 1 p.m. at the Van Veghten House. David Overaker, Board President of the 1759 Vought House, will share the Vought family’s story, from their arrival in the colonies in 1710 to their experiences during and after the war.
Listen to the story of those who chose the other side.
