Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We do not have a shelter. Our dogs stay in foster homes until adopted. Founded in 2011 by Michelle Neufeld Montak.

GSAR is based in New York. We do not have a facility All of our dogs stay in private foster homes until adopted. We are always in need of foster homes so we can save more lives. We rely on donations and adoption fees to keep saving precious lives. All donations are tax deductible.

This happy guy is a 5 year old 32 lbs lowrider with the short cutest legs!

His foster mom say:

URGENT 🚨 Cooper needs a new home by AUGUST 31st!!!! Cooper is a handsome and goofy 4-year-old, 50lb lowrider hound/lab mix with adorable short legs. He is very active and playful and loves being outside and going on walks. He lives with a dog now and gets along with dogs. Cooper is very intelligent and learns commands quickly. He likes mental stimulation games like training activities or scent work and would love to be given “jobs” to do. He also loves to curl up on the couch or sit on a lap after a walk. Cooper will make an incredible companion for an active family who can give him lots of attention and love. Cooper was adopted from us as a puppy but can be reactive to strangers or new people so he needs a home with experienced owner to guide him. Also he needs a calm home that doesn’t have people and kids and their friends coming and going he doesn’t do well in that environment.

Denny is ADOPTED 💙

We rescued Denny from a breeder down south to break the cycle of him being bred to produce more and more dogs in a time where we are dealing with a critical animal overpopulation epidemic 🙈

Now he will never be used to produce more dogs - A HUGE WIN IN ITSELF- and he gets to live his life in a wonderful loving home vs ignore in a breeding kennel!!

Amy and Gene adopted sweet Rosie from us 6 years ago and fell in love with Denny. He now has wonderful and a sweet fur sister and will have a great life ❤️

We rescued Denny (and his sister) in memory of Cynthia Suskind and they were both named in honor of Cynthia and Dennis Suskind Silver Tide Stable wonderful parents ❤️❤️

Happy life Denny you more than deserve it ❤️

Cooper is an adorable 4 year old 50 lbs lowrider beagle mix who needs a home asap!!

Cooper is very smart, active and funny .. he needs a calm home with an engaged owner who has time to spend with him and do fun things together!
He gets along with other dogs (currently lives with one) and would be fine with teens vs toddlers.

We took Buddy into rescue from a breeder down south. We promised him he would have a great life and would never again be used for breeding. .. and that’s exactly what happened .. and her family were heartbroken after recently losing their beloved 16 year old fur son Hopkins.. The day Sabrina applied for Buddy a cardinal appeared on her patio which is a good omen she took as a sign from Hopkins that it was OK to open their hearts and home to Buddy as a way of honoring their love for Hopkins.

Buddy now has a wonderful family with fabulous and 3 human siblings who already adore him and will love and cherish him 💙

Our precious girl Dove finally found her ..

This proves what we always say- given the chance dogs wait for their people -and Dove certainly did just that ❤️❤️

Before we took Dove, our sweet tripod, into rescue, she lived outside with an elderly woman in South Carolina who saved her from being euthanized in a kill shelter after she got hit by a car and lost a back leg and nobody wanted to adopt her 😩

It took almost a year but the stars were aligned the day Dove’s met and fell in love with her at an adoption event organized by

Celeste and John are incredible humans and the Perfect match for our sweetheart Dove who now has the most loving wonderful home where she is truly loved and adored ❤️

Huge thanks to doves amazing foster family Ben and Mathilda and their dogs for never complaining or giving up on dove and fostering her until her family found her; for putting together the adoption event that brought Dove and her parents together; and for sponsoring Dove ❤️❤️❤️

🚨BEYOND URGENT JAKE NEEDS A FOSTER/ADOPTER NOW anywhere in tristate area adult home no kids 🙏🏻

Jake is an adorable lowrider 😍 he’s a 5 year old, 32 lbs mix with a silly, fun personality and a big heart. Jake is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate. He is housetrained, loves peanut butter, going for walks, playing tug of war, cuddling up with his people and one of his favorite things is “singing” along with you when the mood strikes.

Jake is looking for an adult-only home. He was shot at by kids with BB guns when we rescued him 4 years ago so kids understandably scare him.

Jake would thrive with someone who appreciates his goofy, loving nature and is looking for a loyal companion to share daily adventures and cozy nights with.

ADOPTED 💙🧡

Our little escape artist Paramount, now called BRUNSON 💪🏻found his !

We took Paramount into rescue from someone who used him for breeding his whole 6 years of life.

Now he finally has the wonderful home he always deserved with great pawrents who adore him, a new and very special name, and a sweet bro Parker to show him the ropes.

Brunson now gets to enjoy his life for a change AND no longer breed more puppies to contribute to an already critically overloaded population!

Huge thanks to Stephanie who fostered him down south and brought him to the vet for us down there and and for fostering him here in as well as taking him to the vet up here and sponsoring his neuter and teeth extractions (poor guy had to have 4 teeth removed)

Thanks also to those who donated to his fundraiser those funds went towards helping pay his vet costs down south as well as cost to transport him from South Carolina to Long island.

Happy life little Brunson you deserve ir !
