Perfect Earth Project

Perfect Earth Project Perfect Earth Project promotes nature-based land care practices for healthy people/pets/planet

We look to creating a future when it can be taken for granted that land is managed without toxins and is safe for people, pets and the environment. Toxin-free lands support biodiversity and carbon capture and are a critical component in climate change resiliency. Toxin-free land management engages decision makers and practitioners in positive environmental learning experiences and inspires action,

right in their own front yards. We see the landscape industry as a potential "army" of environmental land stewards offering career opportunities that are currently undervalued.

“Naturalism” is the dominant design style in ecological gardening, but what exactly is it? Is Naturalism just mimicry of nature, or does it allow for the designer to include aesthetic principles to please the human eye? Can it allow the gardener to enjoy favorite plants not indigenous to the area?

In the latest , host Tom Christopher speaks with Duncan Brine, co-proprietor with his wife Julia of design/build firm Garden Large. He explains how he has defined Naturalism to create some of the most celebrated new gardens of New York’s Hudson River Valley.

Award-winning investigative journalist Carey Gillam exposed the corruption and suppression of evidence involved in the Environmental Protection Agency’s original approval of the use of the herbicide Roundup and its active ingredient glyphosate on American gardens and farms.

In today’s conversation, host Tom Christopher speaks with GIllam about the on-going suppression of evidence of glyphosate's harmful impact on human and environmental health and discusses how the case about Roundup currently before the Supreme Court is designed to deprive its victims of recourse, and why Donald Trump has made increasing its production a matter of national security.

‘Tis the season for luna moths! Perfect Earth Project founder found this luna moth last week at her house. Starting in late spring, these gorgeous moths emerge from their cocoons, having spent the winter nestled in leaf litter—yes, one more reason to leave the leaves!

They live for only a week where they’ll seek out a mate around midnight and if successful will lay eggs the following evening. Grow Eastern persimmon, hickory, paper birch, walnut, sweetgum, and sumac trees—to name a few native host plants—to support thes magnificent moths. And, of course, don’t spray!

Spring is springing—and we're here for it! We're loving these marsh marigolds (Caltha palustris), which bloom this time of year along streams and ponds. These wildflowers attract pollinators like bees, ants, and flies, while their seeds provide food for ducks and other wildlife. What wildflowers are you seeing now? Let us know in the comments.
