Hope Gathering Hope Gathering exists to help widows find hope and healing in Christ-centered communities.

We do this through our Hope Boxes, monthly gatherings and our annual Weekend of Hope. We believe that no widow should have to travel this journey of grief alone.

Seven years into her own widowhood, Loretta was searching for resources to encourage her recently widowed sister when she discovered Hope Gathering. What began as a desire to help someone she loved became an unexpected gift in her own journey. Today, Loretta leads one of our Hope Gathering Communities in Georgia, helping other widows experience the same meaningful connections, understanding, and hope she found. Her Story of Hope is a beautiful reminder that no matter how many years have passed since losing a husband, there is still room for healing, friendship, and purpose. 🌿

"I came across a Facebook post about Hope Gathering while I was searching for resources for my sister, who had recently lost her husband. I had been a widow for about 7 years at that time and wished I had been able to experience the fellowship and community that was being promoted.

I ordered a box for myself to see what my sister would receive. Even seven years later, I was overwhelmed at the thoughtfulness of the items included in the Hope Box. I located a Hope Gathering group in the area and decided to attend a gathering, alone, knowing no one. After that first meeting, I stated, 'This was the group I didn’t know I needed!' I felt such a kinship, an understanding that couldn’t be explained. Women who understood exactly what I was feeling and experiencing.

My husband died after battling liver cancer for a year and a half. We were married for 30 years. The loss was so crushing — all the hopes and dreams were suddenly gone, having to make decisions alone, all the secondary losses, someone to share life with just vanished.

GriefShare was an invaluable resource and along with my faith, which was tested and strengthened, helped me cope and deal with the difficulties in navigating widowhood. God was with me every step of the way.

Finding Hope Gathering, attending gatherings, the Weekend of Hope, and becoming a group leader has stretched me out of my comfort zone and has been so rewarding. Isn’t that what God does so beautifully? Pull us out of our comfort zone?

Through Hope Gathering I found a sisterhood of fellow travelers on this journey and my heart is to help widows find comfort, hope and healing in this community. I want to give back the love and support I have felt through this wonderful, caring community."

Every day, women are facing the heartbreaking reality of life without their husbands. Many are navigating overwhelming grief, loneliness, and uncertainty about the future. At Hope Gathering, we believe no widow should have to walk this journey alone.

Our Cedar Park/Leander Hope Gathering group recently gathered to serve their community together. After collecting over 2,700 toiletries, they were able to assemble 150 Blessing Bags for Hearts for the Homeless! To celebrate, they enjoyed fellowship over a boxed Thank You Luncheon and played a fun game.

Meet the founders of Hope Gathering — Tami, Vicki, and Kelly! 🌿

Their friendship deepened through a journey none of them would have chosen — widowhood. As they walked alongside one another through grief, they experienced firsthand the difference it makes to have other women who understand. And they began to recognize how many widows around them were walking this road without that kind of support.

In the fall of 2015, Tami, Vicki, and Kelly sat down together and shared what the Lord had been stirring in each of their hearts: a Christ-centered community where widows could find hope and healing, encourage one another along the journey, and discover that God still had purpose for their lives and their stories.

That December, they invited widows in Brenham, Texas, to the very first Evening of Hope. Seventeen women came.

What began with 17 widows gathered in one community has grown into 76 Hope Gathering Communities across 17 states and Canada — and we’re still growing!

Through Brazos Valley Gives, you can be part of helping even more widows discover that they do not have to travel this journey alone.

Now through October 20, your gift can help Hope Gathering continue reaching widows with Christ-centered community, meaningful support, and the hope found in Jesus.
