Paul W. Reberger, 89, of Brazil passed away Sunday August 16, 2026 at his home after a long battle with cancer and Parkinson’s Disease.

He was surrounded my numerous loved ones his last couple days of life. He was born February 2, 1937 in Clay County, the son of John M. Reberger and Ruth Boase Reberger. Paul was a 1955 graduate of Van Buren High School.

He was a member of Benwood Mt. Lebanon Church and retired from IBM in 1987 after 30 years of service. After retirement from IBM, he worked at Bob Romas Trucking, Clay Community Schools’ grounds crew, delivered Pepsi Products and mowed the grounds at Forest Park Golf Course. Paul spent numerous hours in the development of Friendly Benwood Community Christian Youth Campground where he previously served on the board of directors for several years. Paul loved to work on the farm, piddle around in his shop and attend his great-grandchildren’s baseball, basketball, tennis, dance, and band events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Reberger; in-laws Earl and Marguerite Pearce; four brothers, John Reberger, David Reberger, James Reberger and Ben Reberger; sisters-in-law Hope Reberger and Nancy Reberger; brother-in-law Ronnie Pearce; nephew Christopher Reberger; and great-granddaughter Adelyn Thatcher.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley (Pearce) Reberger; a daughter, Debbie Burns (Randy) of Brazil; 2 grandchildren, Chandra Thatcher (Garrett) of Brazil and Dr. Austin Burns (Brianna) of Brazil; 4 great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Burns, Rylan Thatcher, Lynlee Burns, and Rhett Thatcher, all of Brazil.

Paul is further survived by his sisters-in-laws: Rosemary Reberger and Patty Reberger. Paul’s extended family includes nieces and nephews: Linda Pearce Johnson (Richard), Jim Reberger (Karon), Sheri Turner (Rob), John Reberger (Jamee), Christina Reberger, Dave Reberger (Diane), Kevin Reberger (Laurie), Christina Thompson (Mac), and Lee Reberger (Rochell).

Services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1:00 pm, visitation 11-1 prior to services, at Lawson Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, with his nephew, Lee Reberger, officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Friendly Benwood Community Christian Youth Campground 525 E. Co. Rd. 1200 North Brazil, Indiana 47834.

It’s almost time for Chicken N Noodles at the Rotary 4th of July Festival! 🇺🇸

Join us on July 2nd, 3rd and 4th for chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans and a roll. We will also have sweet and unsweet tea, soft drinks lemonade and water.

As always, we will be located at Forest Park in the food section. We appreciate the support!

As we prepare for the busy camp season, our board is working hard to make upgrades and get the grounds looking better than ever. To help us accomplish this, we’re reaching out to our community for support.

We are currently seeking donations of the following items:
• 10- 13 gallon black trash cans (no lids)
• 10- heavy duty brooms and dustpans
• shovels
• shears

Any contribution, big or small, will make a meaningful difference as we get ready to welcome our campers.
