𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰. 𝐖𝐡𝐨❜𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤-𝐨𝐫-𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠?
We've rounded up the trick-or-treat hours for Braidwood and our surrounding communities to help families plan their Halloween adventures!

And there's more than just candy:
🎃 𝑩𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒅𝒘𝒐𝒐𝒅: Stop by the Lions Pavilion at Braidwood City Park during trick-or-treat hours! Braidwood Illinois Lions Club will be handing out FREE hot dogs, chips, popcorn, hot chocolate, and lemonade. The Braidwood Knights of Columbus will also be there with Halloween treats for the kids!
🎃 𝑬𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒙: Head over to the Village of Essex at 7pm for hot dogs, hot chocolate, and treats! All goodies are available while supplies last.

𝘼 𝙛𝙚𝙬 𝙃𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨:
👻Wear something bright, reflective, or carry a flashlight so drivers can see you.
👻Cross at intersections, look both ways, and keep those phones down while crossing.
👻Younger children should trick-or-treat with a responsible adult.
👻Drivers, please slow down and watch for excited little ghosts and goblins!
👻Check candy before the kids dig in, especially for choking hazards, damaged packaging, and allergens.
👻Stick to well-lit areas, and respect homes that aren't participating.
👻Most importantly, have fun, make some memories, and look out for one another!

Did we miss any Halloween activities happening in our communities? Drop them in the comments so other families can join in!

Happy Halloween from all of us at BAHCC! 🎃

𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐁𝐎𝐍 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊: 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑!

Not everyone has the same reasons for choosing to stay substance-free, and that's okay. Maybe it's your health, your family, sports, friendships, future goals, or simply because you don't want to. Whatever your reason, it's 𝒀𝑶𝑼𝑹𝑺, and that's what matters.

We often focus on teaching young people what to avoid, but it's just as important to help them recognize what they have to look forward to and what's worth protecting. And sometimes, hearing someone else's reasons can help them discover their own.

Bullying prevention can’t fall on just one person. Schools can create safe spaces and clear expectations. Families can keep communication open and take concerns seriously. Communities can give young people places to connect, belong, and feel supported. None of those pieces work quite as well alone.

When the adults in a young person’s life are paying attention, communicating, and reinforcing the same message, kids are more likely to know where to turn and feel safer speaking up.

It really does take all of us.

𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐑𝐈𝐁𝐁𝐎𝐍 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊: 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐓𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐃𝐔𝐋𝐓 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐀 𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄!

Think back to when you were growing up. Was there an adult you could count on? Someone who listened, believed in you, or just made you feel like you mattered? That person may have made a bigger difference than they ever realized.

Not every young person has that kind of support at home, and that's where the rest of us come in. Whether you're a parent, grandparent, teacher, coach, neighbor, or community member, you have the opportunity to be that person for someone.

You don't need all the answers. Sometimes just showing up, listening, and being someone they can count on is enough to make a difference.

𝑹𝑬𝑫 𝑹𝑰𝑩𝑩𝑶𝑵 𝑾𝑬𝑬𝑲: 𝑫𝑰𝑫 𝒀𝑶𝑼 𝑲𝑵𝑶𝑾❓

Our brains are still developing until around age 25! And ni****ne, found in most vapes, can interfere with that development, affecting things like attention, learning, mood, and decision-making.

That's a pretty big deal, especially when young people are still figuring out who they are and making choices that can affect their future. The more we understand the risks, the better we can help our youth make informed decisions.

Arriving at the office this morning, we found a bag of art supplies hanging on our door! We have no idea who left them, but whoever you are, 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨!

Working together as a community to give our youth fun, healthy activities, and positive alternatives to substance use is a big part of prevention.

It's little acts of kindness like this that help make those opportunities possible!

We appreciate you, mystery donor!
