The Mark Wandall Foundation was formed in 2003 in honor of Mark Jeffery Wandall, a wonderful, loving young man who tragically lost his life due to the negligence of a red light runner. We are incredibly grateful to the Sarasota Kiwanis Foundation for its generous $5,000 grant in support of The Mark Wandall Foundation’s Annual 3-Day Bereavement Camp, which will take place in spring 2027.

Since 2017, Sarasota Kiwanis has invested more than $37,000 in the children we serve, helping ensure grieving youth in our community have access to meaningful support, connection, and hope.

Their continued commitment helps make it possible for children to attend camp at no cost to their families and ensures they continue to receive the compassionate care, meaningful programming, and trusted support they have come to rely on as they navigate their grief.

Thank you, Sarasota Kiwanis Foundation, for continuing to stand alongside our children and families!

We had the BEST brunch with these incredible teens from THE Mark Wandall Foundation! 🥞✨

Laughter, good food, great conversations and time together are exactly what these moments are all about. There is no compromise when it comes to making sure our teens know they have a community that cares about them. ❤️

We are always grateful for opportunities to share the mission and impact of The Mark Wandall Foundation with our community. ❤️

Our founder, Melissa Wandall recently had the privilege of speaking with the Sarasota Southside Rotary Club about the Foundation’s programs and the important needs we fulfill for children, teens and young adults grieving the death of a parent, guardian, or sibling.

As Melissa shared:

“Sharing the mission, programs and the important needs The Mark Wandall Foundation fulfills, not only in our local communities but across the state of Florida, is a gift that I do not take for granted.

The Mark Wandall Foundation stands as a promise that from grief can come light, and once you enter our care, no child will ever have to navigate grief in darkness and silence again.”

Jefohn is one of the young people we’ve had the honor of meeting through The Mark Wandall Foundation’s camp for children in grief.

In this powerful video, Jefohn shares what life has been like growing up WITHOUT his dad, who was killed by a red light runner.

His story is a powerful reminder that behind every traffic crash is a person, a family, and a future forever changed.

We were so grateful to OneDigital for highlighting The Mark Wandall Foundation at their Client Appreciation event at The Florida Aquarium tonight 💙 The featured interactive activity, “Ripples of Hope,” allowed attendees to create a seascape of messages for the foundation’s participants. 🐟🐠🌊🦀🐙🐬🐳 The messages will be compiled as a keepsake for the foundation.

Thank you to all that contributed with a wish of hope, words of wisdom or rememberance. We are thankful to have connected with so many people tonight!
