Better Housing Colorado (fka Boulder Housing Coalition) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Community Housing Development Organization.

We've been creating affordable cooperative housing for Colorado's Front Range since 1996.

Did you know Better Housing Colorado has FIVE permanently affordable cooperative houses along the Front Range?

Each house is home to 12–25 residents who have their own private bedrooms and share the rest: pooling money for groceries, taking turns cooking meals, sharing chores, and making decisions together through weekly consensus meetings.

And here's the cool part: our houses are owned by a nonprofit, and residents make up the majority of its board. That means the people who live directlyshape how their homes and organization are run!

Calling all BHC alumni, current residents, and wanna-be co-opers: The registration for Co-op Con has been extended to September 14th! Co-op Con is a 3-day cooperative conference in North Boulder taking place next weekend, September 18-20. Come connect with co-op people, trade stories, learn tips, maybe win a prize, and have some fun!

Co-op Con 2026 is coming!

Three days of cooperative housing magic: community-building, skillshares, big ideas, and plenty of time to connect with fellow co-opers.

Co-op Con is centered on cooperative residents in Colorado, and this year we’re excited to open the doors a little wider. We have a limited number of full scholarships for out-of-state cooperative leaders, including conference registration, all meals, and shared co-op housing!

We’re excited to offer a $1,000 grant to support a qualifying black, indigenous, person of color or mixed race stepping into a leadership role at The People's Mansion!

This opportunity is for someone who:
• Commits to a full-year lease at The People's Mansion
• Holds a leadership role in their house
• Organizes the annual BIPOC Social
• Brings experience in community organizing, cooperatives, or conflict resolution
