The Shane Patton Foundation would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the 2 men responsible for creating the Shane Patton Memorial Statue: Barret Thomson and Grzegorz Gwiazda .

The statue was designed by Boulder City born artist Barret Thomson, a world class artist who was also friends with Shane. Barret’s design depicts Shane in full combat gear holding his rifle and standing in a Warrior Pose which symbolizing strength and courage. The concrete pedestal creates a sense of ascension and appears to cast a wake. Every aspect of the monument is intentional and meaningful and melds seamlessly with the existing landscape of Wilbur Square. Barret is a natural born artist with skills spanning multiple disciplines including painting and graphic design and we are so grateful for all of his hard work.

Grzegorz Gwiazda is an incredible sculptor based out of Warsaw Poland. He teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona and is one of the most talented sculptor’s in the world. Taking a solid block of clay and creating a replica of a man that you never met knowing that every detail will be scrutinized is challenge that few would sign up for and even fewer could deliver upon. Grzegors spent month after month scrutinizing every minute detail and was committed to working on the statue as long as it took to gain approval from the Patton family. The end result is nothing short of perfection. Grzegors was able to find Shane’s essence in the clay. The final result is a stunning and powerful representation of Shane Patton and these 2 men should be proud knowing that their hard work will be displayed in Downtown Boulder City for future generations to admire and appreciate.

Saturday, June 28, 2025 will mark twenty years since Shane Patton was killed in action during Operation Redwings. To mark the anniversary and honor Shane's service, a statue of Shane will be unveiled at Wilbur Square on that date at 4:00PM.
