Last week, our Young Partners gathered at BNY Corporate Headquarters in New York for a conversation that felt very much of the moment — AI and its growing influence on financial services.

We were grateful to be hosted by Partnership Board Member Brian Ruane, Senior Executive Vice President and Executive Committee Member at BNY, and to our sponsors MCS Group and Gary Hanley for their support.

Tim Shanahan, Head of North American Relationship Management, Institutional Clearance & Collateral Management, walked us through the history of BNY and the life of a trade — and what AI means for the future of global markets. Chief Data and AI Officer Sarthak Pattanaik made the case that real AI progress starts with data — access, quality, and responsibility. What came through clearly was how deeply AI has been embraced across BNY, not just as a technology initiative, but as a cultural one.

Last week the Irish American Partnership gathered some of New York's most distinguished business leaders for our 7th Annual Business Leaders Breakfast — where we were proud to recognize Colman Madden, Director of Customer Engineering, Financial Services at Google, with our 2026 Business Leadership Award.

In conversation with Co-Chair Brian Ruane of BNY, Colman captured something that resonates deeply with everything the Partnership stands for:

"Education is a passport for a lot of people from Ireland... Having that connection back to Ireland and being able to give back to some of the places that helped us be successful, is special."

The morning also featured powerful remarks from United States Ambassador to Ireland (ret.) Claire D. Cronin, who reminded us that in uncertain times, targeted investment across the island of Ireland matters more than ever.

Colman joins a remarkable group of honorees that includes leaders from Goldman Sachs, Avolon, Kerry Group, Northwell Health, and the Royal Dublin Society — a testament to the caliber of the Irish-American business community and its enduring commitment to Ireland.

If the spirit of the morning moved you, we invite you to consider making a gift to the Irish American Partnership - where 100 cents of every dollar goes directly toward education, community development, and opportunity across the island of Ireland.

We were proud and honored to welcome 500 friends and supporters to Boston for our 31st annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast—made unforgettable by a surprise visit from 46th President of the United States Joseph R. Biden, Jr., who joined us to celebrate our 40th anniversary year. 🇮🇪🇺🇸

“On this St. Patrick’s Day, we honor where we came from. Let us not forget and romanticize the visions of the past. Instead, let us remember what’s possible, and recommit ourselves to the unified work that lies ahead.” - President Joe Biden.

We were also honored to hear from Maura Healey, United States Ambassador Claire Cronin (ret.), Minister for Foreign Affairs & Trade and Minister for Defense, and Dr. Norah Patten, Irish aeronautical engineer and astronaut candidate expected to become the first Irish person to travel to space later this year. We also watched a special message from 7th President of Ireland, Mary Robinson who applauded Partnership supporters saying, “All I can say is, keep up the good work over the next 40 years!” ✨

This gathering is only possible because of the strength of our community - Thank You. ☘️

As we mark 40 years of impact, we are deeply grateful—and excited for all that lies ahead.
