🌊🐋 Happy World Ocean Day from Dimples the Whale! 🐋🌊

Today is a beautiful reminder of why healthy oceans matter — for whales, marine life, and generations to come.

As we celebrate, we’re feeling especially grateful for everyone who has supported Dimples the Whale. Because of you, together we’ve helped remove or prevent more than 35,000 plastic bottles from entering the ocean.

What began with a real-life whale rescue has grown into a mission to inspire children, support ocean conservation, and help protect the waters whales call home.

To our early supporters: thank you for believing in this little whale and the bigger purpose behind her. You know who you are — and we’re so grateful. 💙

First trip of the year. 🌊

FRITZIE M ROSE made her first run of the season out of our home port of Rockport, Massachusetts, and it felt so good to be back on the water.

The ocean still had some waves rolling through from the weather the day before, but we made it out, passed Straitsmouth Lighthouse with the Thacher Island twin lighthouses in the distance, and picked up some marine debris floating offshore.

The piece pictured below is one example of the kind of plastic we sometimes find at sea — likely carried out by yesterday’s storm.

Every piece removed helps keep our waters cleaner and safer for marine life.

Our ocean is a gift. What a beautiful place. 💙

🌊💙 Happy Mother’s Day from Dimples the Whale 💙🌊

One of the most beautiful things we witnessed during the real-life rescue that inspired Dimples the Whale was the powerful bond between a mother humpback whale and her baby.

Today, we celebrate all mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, caregivers, and mother figures whose love helps guide us through life’s biggest adventures.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there. 💙🐋

Happy 100th birthday, Sir David Attenborough!

What an extraordinary life — 100 years on this planet, and so many of them spent helping the rest of us understand, love, and protect it.

From the deep ocean to the rainforest canopy, from tiny insects to great whales, Sir David has shown us that every living thing has a story. Even more importantly, he has reminded us that the natural world needs our attention, our respect, and our action.

Thank you, Sir David, for a lifetime of wonder, wisdom, and advocacy for wildlife and our oceans.

Happy birthday, David. The world is better because of your voice, your films, your heart and love for our natural world. Thanks for inspiring us at Dimples The Whale to do our part to help the ocean and its majestic creatures.

Happy World Whale Day 🐋

Did you know this day began in 1980 in Hawaii to celebrate migrating humpback whales? It has since grown into a global day dedicated to whale awareness and ocean protection.

To celebrate, we created a short 42-second video featuring a few fun whale facts kids will love.

Humpback whales are among the largest animals on Earth — and their songs can travel for miles underwater.
