IBA invites the community to kick off the holiday season at La CASA with celebrated Puerto Rican singer and décima poet Victoria Sanabria. 🇵🇷🎶✨

Known as “La Diosa de la Trova,” Sanabria brings her commanding voice, joyful stage presence and deep connection to Puerto Rico’s musical traditions to La CASA for a festive evening of live music, culture and community.

Join us with your family and friends as we welcome the season with the unmistakable sounds of Puerto Rico.

IBA is proud to welcome the world of La Borinqueña created by Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez, the groundbreaking Afro-Puerto Rican superhero, to La CASA this November.

The exhibition brings the art and stories of La Borinqueña to La Galería for a celebration of Puerto Rican identity, imagination and community power.

Join us for two special events:

Experience the exhibition and hear directly from Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez during a special artist conversation.

⚡ Family Art Workshop — November 7
Families are invited to explore the exhibition and participate in a hands-on creative activity inspired by La Borinqueña.

Join us at La CASA for From Protests to Pride: Generations of Villa Victoria, a community art exhibition organized by Ashley Martinez, IBA’s Visual Arts Residency Coordinator.

Featuring original woodblock prints, archival materials, and community artwork, the exhibition celebrates the stories, resilience, and cultural legacy of Villa Victoria while exploring the journey toward housing justice, self-determination, and activism that shaped the community.

Last week, La CASA opened its doors to women leaders and entrepreneurs from across the region for TD Bank’s Women’s Business Month Leadership Forum.

IBA CEO Vanessa Calderón-Rosado joined a panel exploring the lifecycle of a business, sharing lessons from more than two decades of leading IBA’s growth and transformation. Vanessa spoke about the importance of strategic planning, accountability, and building sustainable systems that allow organizations to expand their impact.

We are proud to see La CASA serving as a gathering space for conversations like these - bringing people together to exchange knowledge, form connections, and learn from one another.

IBA was proud to participate in Massachusetts Association of CDCs (MACDC)’s 2026 Community Development Summit at the DCU Center in Worcester!

Our COO, Mayra Negrón-Roche, and Financial Consultant, Amanda Puricelli, presented “Built to Last: Leadership Lessons for Sustainable Community Development Corporations” to a packed room of community development professionals from across the state.

Mayra and Amanda led an engaging and highly interactive conversation about the leadership practices that help CDCs remain strong, effective, and connected to their communities over the long term. The enthusiastic participation from the audience made it clear that these are timely and important conversations for our sector.

Congratulations to Mayra and Amanda for representing IBA so powerfully, and thank you to MACDC for bringing together practitioners, advocates, and partners committed to building stronger communities throughout the Commonwealth!

Our Latino community spans many countries, cultures, and experiences, united by a commitment to show up for one another in times of need.

After devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela, artists, organizers, and community members across Massachusetts came together to support those affected. IBA was proud to join that response by opening La CASA for a benefit concert presented alongside Rumba Land in support of the Massachusetts United for Venezuela Fund.

It was a powerful expression of what La CASA is here to become: a home for Latino unity, where our communities can gather through art and culture, celebrate what connects us, and stand together when it matters most.

🎬 IBA and La CASA are proud to welcome the Vieques Film and Human Rights Festival (Festival de Cine y Derechos Humanos de Vieques) for Memorias del Agua, a free two-night showcase featuring a selection of works from the festival’s sixth edition.

Through film, the program explores the connections between water, memory, community, human rights, and environmental justice.

Thursday’s program will include an introduction to the history and mission of the festival, followed by screenings of Farmers of the Sea and Water for Life. Friday will feature a selection of experimental works and screenings of La gota que se vuelve río, Querida Isla Nena, and Dulces Labios. Both evenings will conclude with a community discussion.

☕ Planning ahead today can make the holidays a little easier tomorrow.

At our latest Financial Empowerment Cafecito, IBA residents explored how to turn their financial goals into a plan using the SMART goals framework and began thinking ahead about saving for the upcoming holiday season.

From setting a realistic holiday budget to breaking a larger savings goal into manageable weekly contributions, the conversation focused on practical steps residents can begin taking now to help reduce financial stress later in the year.

And the work doesn’t end with the workshop. Our Financial Empowerment team will continue following up with participants over the coming months, encouraging them to keep building their holiday savings and working toward the goals they set together.

Small, consistent steps can add up, and financial empowerment starts with having the tools and support to make a plan that works for you. 💛
