Collateral Threshold Dilemma
At what point, the price of the collateral damage outweighs noble objectives
To take out Saddam, we lost Iraq
To take out Qaddafi we lost Libya
To take out al-Qaida, we lost Afghanistan
To take out Asad, we threw Syria asunder
To take out Hamas, we will lose …………………
Bad guys must go but the question is at what price and whether there are better ways … perhaps to not let the problem fester to the point where the price of uprooting evil becomes as unbearable as the evil itself .. I supported full heartedly in removing Saddam but not too thrilled for neither the price we gave nor for the alternative and the outcome.
While Israel is rightly outraged for the carnage it suffered on the 7th of October the collateral is already too high on the Palestinian side without guaranteeing the ultimate outcome is favorable but like president Biden says the final decision will be Israel’s own .. we just hope that decision will not burn us all ..
