Teachers- wait until your students learn THIS about Boston’s Beacon Hill. 👀📚

Behind the cobblestones and photo-ready streets is an important story about Black abolitionist history. In the 1800s, Beacon Hill was a powerful hub for activism, community, organizing, and the fight for freedom.

This neighborhood is a powerful entry point for teaching history and civics plus there are many stories your students will never forget.

I know I said “what more could you want” twice 🤦‍♀️, but really, entertainment and education in a TV show for kids? What more COULD you want???

1. Arthur has taught generations of kids social-emotional skills by demonstrating real, relatable issues kids face every day. Streaming on the PBS KIDS app or YouTube.

2. Work It Out Wombats! shows kids how to solve problems by using tools from computational thinking, like sequencing and recognizing patterns. This lays the foundation for future coding skills! Streaming on the PBS KIDS app or YouTube.

3. Molly of Denali models how to use informational texts, like maps or field guides, to explore the world around us. Set in Alaska, the show also demonstrates Indigenous cultural practices and values. Streaming on the PBS KIDS app or YouTube.

4. Between the Lions explores literacy and is designed to promote a love of reading. Set in a library, the show features segments that playfully show the ins and outs of the English language. Watch on archive.org.

5. PEEP and the Big Wide World follows a band of friends as they explore science concepts like ramps, shapes, colors, and seasons! Streaming on YouTube.
