🎻 Sounds of Albania comes to New York City!

On September 17, 2026, the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center will host an evening celebrating the rich musical traditions of the Albanian lands through a fresh contemporary interpretation.

Reimagined by music director and arranger Edmond Xhani for string quartet, flute, clarinet, and percussion, the program brings together Albanian and American musicians, connecting heritage, artistry, and collaboration through music.

Today, we celebrate the land of the free and the home of the brave, a country that has welcomed Albanians with open arms and provided countless opportunities since the first Albanian migrants arrived in the late 19th century. The United States has been a home away from home and a place where Albanians have thrived and contributed to society in many ways.

From our hearts to yours, thank you, America, for embracing us and allowing us to give back to our community and homeland. We honor our shared values of freedom, bravery, and unity.

The postcard by Spiridon Ilo was printed as a sign of gratitude for the US assistance in reaffirming the legitimacy of the new Albanian State. It came into circulation in 1920, the year President Woodrow Wilson famously arbitrated his support for Albania's independence at the Paris Peace Conference.

Webinar Recap -- Digital Tools to Strengthen Albanian NGOs

The Global Albanians Foundation hosted the webinar “Digital Tools to Strengthen Albanian NGOs,” bringing together 39 Albanian NGOs from around the world to explore new ways of strengthening fundraising, donor management, and supporter engagement across the Albanian community.

The session featured a presentation by Mark Kosmo, Chair of the Global Albanians Foundation, who introduced practical digital tools that NGOs can use through the Zeffy platform. These include donation pages in USD, fundraising campaigns, event ticketing, online stores, auctions, membership forms, newsletter tools, and donor database management.

Through this initiative, GAF aims to support Albanian NGOs by providing access to the platform and helping them set up the tools needed to raise funds and manage donors more effectively.

Participants also received guidance on good fundraising practices, including website integration, short videos, personalized communication through email, SMS, WhatsApp, and social media, as well as the importance of persistence when reaching out to potential donors.

The webinar also introduced the idea of an Albanian Giving Week, planned for November 24–December 1, as a joint campaign to raise awareness and mobilize donations for participating NGOs. Next steps include the NGO application process, selection of participating organizations, creation of Zeffy profiles, preparation of fundraising guidelines, and the launch of fundraising activities ahead of Giving Week.

The session concluded with a Q&A discussion, giving participating NGOs the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how they can take part in this new digital fundraising initiative.
