The PIC postsecondary team was busy throughout February, participating in Bunker Hill Community College's (BHCC) Career Month by hosting mock interview sessions and a job search workshop.

At the mock interview sessions, BHCC students practiced interviewing for roles in a wide range of fields, from engineering and legal to communications. Postsecondary coaches provided individualized guidance and feedback to students, allowing them to strengthen their interview skills. The postsecondary team also partnered with our career centers—MassHire Downtown Boston and MassHire Boston ABCD, as well as MassHire Metro North Career Centers to offer resources and present a workshop on job search techniques.

Even during the winter cold, summer isn’t far from the minds of the Career Services and Employer Engagement teams at the PIC. Much goes on behind the scenes to prepare both students and employer partners for the 2025 summer jobs season—developing internship programs in partnership with employers, organizing internship preview days where students can learn more about summer programs, hosting resume workshops to prepare students for the application process, and more.

Read our new blog to learn more about how the PIC team is prepping for the internship season: https://bostonpic.org/all-hands-on-deck-gearing-up-for-summer-2025/

Vertex is already laying the groundwork for a successful 2025 summer internship program. Last week, they invited PIC Career Specialists and STEM Employer Engagement Manager Betsy Hamre to their Learning Lab for a training session on their program. Andre Williams, Senior Manager of the STEAM program, and Jossara Dos Santos Dias, STEAM Education Senior Coordinator, shared tips on facilitating the application and interview process and provided a tour of the Learning Lab, a STEM space dedicated hands-on learning.

It’s not too late to host PIC interns this summer! If your company would like to learn more, please reach out to Josh Bruno, Director of Employer Engagement, at [email protected].

For this , we’re remembering our 2024 February vacation skill-building boot camps. Held during February and April school vacation weeks, local companies and partners provide students with paid career-learning opportunities in fields like AI, robotics, architecture, art, and more. These 1-4 day programs allow students to connect with experts, explore potential careers, and develop professional skills and knowledge.

Next month, February boot camps will return with more offerings than ever before! Thank you, Amazon.com, for sponsoring the boot camps.

If you’re interested in getting more involved with the PIC, reach out to Josh Bruno, Director of Employer Engagement, at [email protected]. If you’re a BPS student and interested in attending a boot camp, reach out to your school’s career specialist: https://bostonpic.org/school-to-career/high-school-career-services/career-specialists/

For this , we’re looking back at the 2024 Bloomberg Arts Internship. The program, funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies and lead by EdVestors connects Boston Public Schools students with local arts and culture organizations for paid summer internships.

“All summer these interns wowed me with their creativity, passion, and dedication to their craft,” shares Joye Prince, a Program Assistant. Prince and fellow Program Assistant Shanelle Villegas reflected on the lessons learned from this summer’s batch of students in an Edvestors blog: https://www.edvestors.org/research-insights/a-reflection-on-summer-2024-with-returning-program-assistants-shanelle-villegas-and-joye-prince

Thank you, EdVestors, for organizing such an impactful program!

For this , we’re throwing it back to Massachusetts STEM Week 2024!

Every October, the statewide event—sponsored by the Healey-Driscoll Administration—is held by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Education and the STEM Advisory Council to encourage the exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This year’s theme, STEM Starts Now, focused on STEM learning for all age groups.

The PIC team fully embraced STEM week, enjoying several events across the city. Highlights included: a tour of a working construction site led by Suffolk Construction for students, reconnecting with a Tech Apprentice alum at SIM Boston Technology Leadership Summit, and a virtual reality career exploration activity at the Citywide College, Career, and STEM Fair.
