Game descriptions:

Universe on fire: https://signups.greaterbostonlarpsociety.org/events/7051-universe-on-fire-----

In the beginning, there was a THUNDEROUS DRUM BEAT…and then the Great Riff SHREDDED through the void with such raw power that it ignited the cosmic inferno of creation! Through the bone-rattling EXPLOSIVE BLAST of cosmic heavy metal, the Great Star Dragons ERUPTED into being, their molten claws ripping open the fabric of nothingness to carve out galaxies, stars, and planets across the screaming universe! Over billions of years, legends have come and gone, devoured by time, but the music STILL POUNDS and the beat HAMMERS ON!

But now, centuries of chaos have unraveled the celestial harmony, and dark forces threaten to extinguish the very stars! As worlds tremble and the abyss whispers of doom, a fearless alliance of the most daring and powerful beings - masters of magic and wielders of cosmic energy - must UNITE to REIGNITE the slumbering hearts of the great celestial dragons to aid their fading stars!

The galaxy is out of balance and only the great Star Dragons slumbering within its center can save us. But who will awaken them? Join the courageous Nebula Knights, the mighty Chaos Wizards, the lawless Space Pirates, the playful Cosmic Court of fae and goblins, the mysterious Psionic Felines, and the unrestrained Dragon Cultists as they try and put aside their differences in order to save the universe with dragon fire!

Tonight, THE UNIVERSE WILL BURN WITH THE FIRES OF COSMIC DESTINY - TO A SICK GUITAR SOLO!

UNIVERSE ON FIRE is a secrets and powers cosmic fantasy adventure that thrums with the fury of heavy metal!

Vibe Check! Forget boring stuff like thermodynamics and electric circuit theory - that weak-ass garbage has zero power here! This is a universe of wonder and magic that EXPLODES from every corner and where impossibility doesn’t exist! Where colossal star beasts with scales like diamonds burn through the fabric of space next to the twinkling lights of cosmic faeries! Where astral knights astride unicorns with manes of living flame charge headlong into battle against cackling chaos wizards whose twisted towers loom over blasted moons! Where stylish void pirates plunder the cosmos, their blades dripping with stardust as they hunt for treasures buried in the hearts of the shattered asteroids called home by psionic catfolk! This universe follows the “rule of cool” where every planet’s breathable air fills your lungs with power and every sky blazes with purple fire and molten gold. And anyone - ANYONE - can ascend a mountain peak, shred an electric guitar solo, and be illuminated by a perfectly timed bolt of lightning!!!

The Shadow Soirée: https://signups.greaterbostonlarpsociety.org/events/7052-the-shadow-soiree------

The haunting melodies of a dark violin fill the grand hall, punctuated by the eerie crackle of magical portals. Against the backdrop of plush velvet curtains, a masked stranger strides forward and extends a hand to you, an air of fatal mystery about them. Is it a potential ally, your deepest enemy, your forbidden lover, or perhaps all three intertwining in a deadly dance? The anticipation sends chills down your spine as you reach out to grasp their hand.

There’s a land of dark magic and twisted secrets, where raw power is the ultimate currency and alliances are constantly shifting. Ruled by divided monarchs and plagued with fragile treaties, the true fate of the political landscape is not decided in meeting rooms, but instead at the secret Shadow Soiree — a clandestine gathering held under the cover of midnight. Here, twisted negotiations and threats occur under the guise of revelry. Behind elegant masks and flowing gowns, enemies and allies alike scheme over drinks with hidden agendas lurking behind their smiles.

How high would you reach in the name of power, in the name of love, in the name of the world?

…and how far would you be willing to fall in the name of those same pursuits?

Don’t underestimate the things that you will do.

The Shadow Soiree is a secrets and powers larp set in a late middle ages/renaissance fantasy world with inspirations taken from the Witcher among others.

https://signups.greaterbostonlarpsociety.org/events/7049-hello-sweetie--a-dr-who-larp--alpha-run-

You open your eyes to find yourself in a prison cell chained to a wall. Well, you’ve had worse surprises. This is not where you had been a moment ago and it probably isn’t when you were either! You hear a familiar woman’s voice say, “Hello Sweetie.”

As you look around to get your bearings you realize you are with 13 others, all who are similarly chained. Only one of the 13 is someone you would expect to see based on where and when you had been. While part of you is elated to see that romantic interest of yours, another part is very worried that you’ve put them in danger … again. Why are you here? Why are they here? Where are you? When are you? How do you escape?

Hello Sweetie is a Doctor Who escape-room-style LARP featuring the queerest characters from the Whoniverse. No experience with Doctor Who is needed to play.

Signups are open for Monster Take My Heart!

https://signups.greaterbostonlarpsociety.org/events/6956-monster-take-my-heart

Written and run by Tory Root, running Sunday, August 2, 1-5 pm at the Fox Library in Arlington.

Signups are first come, first served, with a waitlist.

Monster Take My Heart is a matchmaking larp about humans who cut off pieces of themselves, the monsters created from what they left behind, and the ritual through which they may—or may not—be reunited. (The structure is inspired by the Dance and the Dawn matchmaking games, though altered and simplified, and the themes and vibes are quite different.) Rather than ballroom dancing, this game will use free improvisational movement, along with some limits on speech, to encourage nonverbal or semi-verbal communication. If you have experience with contact improv or microfusion, that’s a good vibe to bring with you, but no dance experience or knowledge is necessary. Just come ready to move and leave judgement, including of yourself, behind. There will be pre-game workshops to get you in the movement zone, build group dynamics amongst the humans, and develop embodiment and nonverbal expression for the monsters.

More details at the signup page.
