This year, we completed our first year working with the 7th and 8th graders โ€” with many more to come!

A total of 66 scholars participated in both in-school sessions and outdoor trips, ranging from rock climbing and fishing to skiing and ice skating. Whether it was identifying the types of fish they caught or learning how to ski for the very first time, every experience helped build confidence, knowledge, and lasting memories.

We look forward to working with them again next year! If your organization would like to partner with us or volunteer, visit our website to learn more about how you can get involved and help create more opportunities for our youth.

Beautiful way to start the weekend with young anglers from at Lake Cochituate! โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŽ From baiting hooks to finding the top hot spots to safely removing fish from their lines, their teamwork was outstanding.

We lost count after 30 catches overall, and spotted swans, a heron, toads and a rainbow trout. We're looking forward to incorporating more creative aspects, too - there's something for everyone with fishing!

Lake Cochituate State Park kicks off the summer season this week offering beaching, boating, and picnic areas just west of Boston. Sending vibes! ๐ŸŽฃ

"The work that Elevate Youth does is beyond recreation...It stimulates their multiple intelligences, allows them to discover potential new hobbies, engage in experiential learning, integrate learning across disciplines, and learn about potential new career paths that are not doctor, lawyer, nurse, or teacher, which are the typical careers that kids who grow up in low income households onlv know about. Our adult learners at deserve to have their children exposed to more. This is the social capital that we help them build across generations. Our aspiration is that their kids will surpass them on every measure. (BTW, Kristen's favorite shark is the goblin shark."ย -

Wilson *always* has a smile waiting for us and his friends - we'll fish with him and the Edison school crew today, and can't wait to see what they catch.

Be sure to touch some grass this week!

It's electric! ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽฃ

Youth are always so creative with their reflections, especially with fishing. We love the opportunities to include art - whether it's cooking outdoors or tying flies for fly fishing.

What are some of your fav outdoor art projects to spark your creativity?

The JOY of catching your first fish!! ๐ŸŽฃ Samari said mountain biking has been her favorite trip so far, but now... She cannot wait to fish again!

For the second year in a row, volunteers from joined Kenny 6th graders at the Brookline Reservoir. Young anglers remembered stories and connections from last May.

Pretty cool when you can *hear* the memories in the making!

Our final tip for ! Pretty simple. Touching grass or putting your hands in dirt is a huge stress reliever and boosts those happiness feelings.

Along with and , maintaining the trails our youth enjoy in the Blue Hills creates moments of awe in unexpected ways for adults, too - like sawing a downed tree together.

Emphasis on adults only with sharp tools of course.... Though we will clean up spaces and learn about invasive species with youth.

We encourage you to join us in maintaining our adopted trail and local green spaces!

Today's Earth Week action - conserve water! ๐ŸŒŽโ™ป๏ธ๐Ÿšฐ

Conserving water has so many benefits, from saving money to ensuring healthy drinking sources and ecosystems. Running the faucet just to brush our teeth averages about 9 liters per brushing alone. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

We have three tips to try:
- Save water when washing dishes by filling up the sink, or maximizing dishwasher use with full loads.
- Reuse your stale water from bottles and other sources, like buckets outside, to water plants. You'll see us doing this often around the garden beds at HQ!
- Use rain barrels to reduce using a hose in yards and gardens. This choice really helps protect our local watersheds!

Conserving water means we can enjoy activities like paddling and surfing for years to come.

Today's Earth Week idea: visit a local farm, garden, or farmer's market! Perfect spring trip. ๐ŸŒŽโ™ป๏ธ๐Ÿค

Local food sources often provide more nutrients and layers of flavors than packaged items that need to be preserved and shipped. Plus, supporting farms and gardens helps keep money in our local communities.

Of course, the awe that we feel from interacting with animals is always a joy! These connections foster care and mindfulness to protect green spaces.

Let us know where you're grabbing your fruits, veggies, flowers, and more treats around the city during school break!

Thank you to for our visits throughout the summer, and our EAT supporters who make sure we have healthy food and cooking classes all year.

Fresh POW!! Kids are even more stoked to hit the slopes in the next couples of weeks.

Trailblazers - our monthly donors - help more than 50 kids stay ready to carve all season long with gear, new and old friends, certified instructors and endless connections to an experience that is likely new for them.

โ„๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‰ Become a Trailblazer ๐Ÿ‘ˆโ„๏ธ

Jump into emPOWering youth all year long, today! We are so grateful for the long-term support that keeps youth engaged in the outdoors for years to come.
