Just back from the Sound Diplomacy Music Tourism conference, in beautiful Sydney, Nova Scotia. Between the music performances from local musicians, including Men of the Deep (an incredible choir of local coal miners - pictured), and talks from music and destination professionals, academics, musicians, and government reps, we learned about this beautiful region through the lens of music and culture, while also brainstorming on more effective ways to demonstrate the value of music in cultural relations and in creating strong music ecosystems. Kudos to the whole team for a brilliant event

After taking a break this past year to focus on being a new mama to my little one, it's time to get back to sharing news, events and research in the cultural relations and diplomacy space.

This one is timely and exciting - an announcement from the US State Department on their new Global Music Diplomacy Initiative - where music will be in the spotlight of intercultural relations. This also happens to be the core of my PhD research.
